Cathy Struecker, Program February 17th
Cathy is the local American Cancer Society (ACS) staff partner for Lucas and 8 other counties in South-Central Iowa. She has been with ACS for just over 1 year and works as a remote worker out of her home in the Knoxville area. Cathy graduated from Iowa State University in 2005 with a degree in Health & Human Performance. Prior to her current position, she worked full time for the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. She has a passion for helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle and working in a field in which she can make a direct impact on members of the community.
Cathy enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, teaching fitness classes and personal training in her free time at the Knoxville Recreation Center, and spending time being active outdoors.
Her presentation will be about Daffodil Days, Relay For Life, and the other programs and services that are available through the American Cancer Society.

Congratulations to Avery Fuhs
The Pioneer Football League, which Drake University is a member, has named two Chariton graduates, Avery Fuhs, son of Rotarian Veronica & Andy Fuhs, and Michael Lahart to the league's Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2011 semester.
Pioneer Football League athletic directors and coaches established the honor roll as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. Great job guys!

Mystery Dinner Theater, March 3rd
Make plans to join the fun at the Mystery Dinner Theater to benefit the Relay for Life of Lucas County to be held on Saturday, March 3rd at Carpenter's Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. with entertainment and dinner at 7 p.m. Rotarian Adam Bahr will be one of the actors in the Hollywood mystery.
The menu will include a choice of Chicken Cordon Blue or Citrus Salmon, tossed salad, baked potato, green beans amandine, rolls, and cherry cheesecake for dessert. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Contact Jeri Reeve at 641-774-5194 for more information or to purchase tickets.

This week's Rotary Foundation Thought is about Rotary's Disaster Recovery efforts.
Pakistani Rotarian's are bringing education back into the lives of those in Pakistan and India affected by the earthquake of 2005. In Azad Kashmir more than 80% of the schools were either completely destroyed or badly damaged. The local Disaster Recovery Committee in Pakistan decided to focus its efforts on rebuilding schools. They will help rebuild five new, environmentally-friendly schools equipped with electricity, running water, bathroom facilities, and furniture and school supplies. Children and families throughout Azad Kashmir will be profoundly impacted by the efforts of Pakistani Rotarian's.
