Mystery Dinner Theater, March 3rd
Make plans to join the fun at the Mystery Dinner Theater to benefit the Relay for Life of Lucas County to be held on Saturday, March 3rd at Carpenter's Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. with entertainment and dinner at 7 p.m. Rotarian Adam Bahr will be one of the actors in the Hollywood mystery.
The menu will include a choice of Chicken Cordon Blue or Citrus Salmon, tossed salad, baked potato, green beans amandine, rolls, and cherry cheesecake for dessert. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Contact Jeri Reeve at 641-774-5194 for more information or to purchase tickets.

Happy 107th Birthday Rotary
Rotary was founded on February 23, 1905 by an Iowa educated lawyer Paul Harris. Rotary became the first service organization in the world. Paul Harris formed the first club in Chicago with three other businessmen. The new club was named Rotary because members met in rotation at their various places of business. |
RYLA, April 17, 2012
Sophomores Emma Fuhs, daughter of Rotarian Veronica Fuhs and Paul Opheim, the son of Rotarian Ray Meyer, are planning to attend the one day leadership program on April 17th in West Des Moines at the Church of Hope.
RYLA which stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards brings groups of outstanding young men and women together in an informal atmosphere for a challenging program of leadership training, discussions, inspirational addresses and social activities designed to enhance personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship.

This week's Rotary Foundation Thought is about what a $100 can do.
It is as simple as having a notebook, pencil and glue. In Pavas, a poor district in San Jose, Costa Rica a packet of educational materials means the difference between an education and working on the street. Most public schools in Costa Rica are under funded and lack many basic supplies, so the Rohrmoser Rotary Club, Costa Rica developed a packet of teaching materials for students and partnered with the Vancouver Rotary Club, Canada to distribute 777 packets to children in five very poor elementary schools. $100 buys 15 packets. Without this project many students would not be able to continue their education and would be forced to drop out of school.
When Every Rotarian, Every Year participates, our foundation is able to continue to build a brighter future for the children of the world.

Future Vision Plan
The Foundation Trustees identified a growing need to focus efforts in order to achieve greater impact, more public recognition, and streamlined operations for improved efficiency. The new grant structure will enable Rotarian's to change people's lives, make the world a better place, and help meet the priorities and goals of Rotary's Strategic plan.
A three-year pilot began in July 2010, with 100 Rotary districts testing the plan. All districts will transition to the new model in July 2013.
Under Future Vision, the Foundation offers two types of grants. District grants are block grants that enable clubs and districts to address immediate needs in their communities and abroad. Global grants offer opportunities to participate in strategically focused, high-impact activities within the six areas of focus. Global grants range from $30,000 to $400,000.
The six areas of focus are:
Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
Disease prevention and treatment
Water and sanitation
Maternal and child health
Basic education and literacy
Economic and community development
