Kirk V. Blunck graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science and Art Design degree, followed by a Master of Architecture degree in 1978 from the University of Oregon. After years of experience in prominent roles with other firms, Mr. Blunck became the Principal In Charge of Knowles Blunck Architecture of Des Moines, Iowa, gaining notoriety through several state and national design awards.
As part of the greater goal of downtown revitalization by both the City of Chariton and the Chariton Area Chamber/Main Street, Mr. Blunck is spearheading the creation of a historic district in downtown Chariton. If awarded, a national historic district would provide great benefit to building owners in their effort to enhance the appearance and functionality of their downtown businesses. Mr. Blunck will be sharing his experience with regard to national historic districts and their value, as well as presenting the architectural renderings of the Chariton Square.

RI Pr esident-elect Ron Burton will ask Rotarians to Engage Rotary, Change Lives in 2013-14.
He unveiled the RI theme during the opening plenary session of the 2013 International Assembly in San Diego, California, the annual training event for incoming district governors.
"We need to make sure that every Rotarian has a meaningful role to play, that they're all making a contribution, and that their contribution is valued."
He said The Rotary Foundation's new grant model, Future Vision, which has been used by about 100 pilot districts since 2010, represents a new era for the Foundation, and will help Rotarians get excited about Rotary's ability to change lives.
"It takes everything that is wonderful about Rotary and raises it to a new level -- by encouraging bigger, more sustainable projects, both of which addresses the needs of the community being served," he said.
