This is a great way to make up a missed meeting and to learn more about Rotary.

We thank Shantel Dow for her contact to bring Mel Johnson Jr., an Actor, Producer and Director to Rotary last Friday for a fun and interesting program.

Also, special thanks to Jeri Reeve who brought Mel to Chariton and took him back to Des Moines where he was performing at the Civic Center in Jekyl and Hyde Friday evening.

A big thank you to Sandra Knebel for a great article in the Chariton newspaper!

The Relay for Life of Lucas County is proud to present "A Deadly Incentive" murder mystery play on March 16th at Carpenter's Hall.  The doors open at 6 p.m. and the dinner and play begin at 7:00 p.m.  Thelma will be serving her usual awesome buffet and we will be entertained by the likes of Tony Irving, Sheila Hoch, Amanda Coker, Ben Cohen and Joe and Shannon Allwood, among others.  The cost for the event is $25 per person in advance and $30 at the door.  All the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Lucas County.  Please join us for murder, mayhem and a lot of fun and help support a great cause!

Advance tickets can be purchased at the Chariton Chamber office, Demichelis Law Firm or by contacting Jeri Reeve at 641-774-5194.

Rotary Coordinators and Rotary Public Image Coordinators put service into action on March 5 during a training event at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois.

The coordinators formed teams to bag 16,000 packages containing rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and 21 vitamins and minerals for Kids Against Hunger, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to reduce the number of undernourished or starving children in the world.  The Fox Valley chapter of Kids Against Hunger is sponsored by the four Rotary clubs in Rock County, Wisconsin.

"We decided to do a hands-on service project to give them an activity to do together in great fellowship," said Jennifer Jones, who served as the moderator for the training event.  "The world has come together and it's fascinating to see these people side by side packaging food."

The bags were donated to the Northern Illinois Food Bank to benefit undernourished children in the Chicago area.
