Congratulations Bob
At the Club Assembly on June 22nd, President Kris Patrick presented Bob Ulrich as "Rotarian of the Year" for 2011-12. Bob (known as Mr. Rotary) has been a Rotarian since 1988, was President in 2003-04 and is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He and his wife Kay have hosted a member of the Group Study Exchange team twice in their home. Bob's been active in the Roadside Clean Up, the Literacy project and the Dictionary project for many years. Bob is always willing to lend a helping hand where needed.
Some of the accomplishments during his leadership as president were: A District Simplified Grant was received for $1500, which our club matched for reading materials for K-3 grade children. Our club gave take home books to 1st grade children, along with Rotarian's reading to the 1st grade children every week.
Chariton Rotary sponsored a group from Branson called the Dutton's who performed in the Chariton High School gymnasium when over $2900 was raised for the Disc Golf project at Northwest Park. Bob and the late Allen Anderson worked together to develop the disc golf course.
The Dutton's also made a donation of $1500, through our club to help eradicate polio which our club contributes to annually.
Our club held a sweet corn feed on the court house lawn enjoyed by many. ($300 was raised)
For our international project our club contributed $300 for classrooms in Xicotepec, Mexico.
Thanks for making a difference in Rotary & our community Bob!

The Foundation Moment
Let's begin our new Rotary year with a prayer and a quote from Past Rotary Foundation Trustee Lou Piconi. Lou says, "I am a Rotarian because Rotary and The Rotary Foundation makes my favorite poem a reality every minute of every day of every week of every year."
God has given me a place on earth to be here for a while
I hope that as I'm passing through I will make somebody smile
I want to make life easier for all those that I meet
I ask God for His blessings to the strangers on the street
I hope I'll never fail a child if I can help somehow
I want to be as generous as my resources will allow
And when my life on earth is done, it will be my final plea
Let someone somewhere think or say
You made a difference to me
A contribution to The Rotary Foundation will make that difference to someone.
Thank you for your contributions!

THE FOUR-WAY TEST of the things we think say or do
first
Is it the TRUTH?
second
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
third
Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
fourth Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
