Supporting education
In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina flooded 80 percent of New Orleans, Louisiana.  More than 100 public schools were destroyed and some 400,000 students were displaced.  One year later, Warren Easton charter high School, the city's oldest public high school, reopened with help from Rotarian volunteers and a grant from The Rotary Foundation.

Your contributions of $25.00 per member each quarter goes to the Annual Programs Fund to help The Rotary Foundation and its partners support education and literacy, ensuring a bright future for the next generation.  Your support of the Annual Fund is appreciated in helping those who are less fortunate.

The Matching Grant in Abuja, Nigeria approved on March 23, 2011 to help provide public toilet with hand washing station to prevent communicable disease within the community of Guida Village in Abuja, Nigeria has been completed.  All of the paper work has been submitted to Rotary International and the files are closed.

The project was for $11,338 with Decatur County, Chariton and Indianola.  Chariton & Indianola each contributed $1000 and Decatur County $475, District Designated Funds (DDF)  $3713 and The Rotary Foundation (TRF) match of $5000. The RC of Wuse (Nigeria) contributed $100 cash and TRF Match $50.
