Karen Irwin joined Mosaic in South Central Iowa as their Community Relations Manager in June 2011.  Karen was born and raised in Dexter, Iowa and moved back to Iowa after living for over 25 years in the Minneapolis area.  Karen has an extensive marketing background in both the direct mail and office labeling products industries.  A career change due to downsizing led her to the non-profit field in 2007, where she obtained a position as Volunteer Services and Special Events coordinator for Vail Place, a Minneapolis agency that provides services to adults with serious and persistent mental illness. She graduated from CE School of Commerce in Omaha and received a Mini-MBA in Volunteer Management from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.  She is a certified trainer for MAVA (Minnesota Association of Volunteer Administration).

Karen has been a member of the United States and Minnesota Women of Today, a community service organization, since 1994 and served as the US Women of Today President in 2004-2005.  She serves on the Board of Directors for HCI Care Services and the Volunteer Center of Southern Iowa.  She is also a member of the promotions committee for Osceola Chamber Main Street and has been very active with the American Cancer Society,  having participated in Relay for Life for the last 19 years and was the event chair for the Elk River, Minnesota Relay for Life in 2009 and 2010.

Karen and her husband, Bill, live in Weldon.  They have two daughters, Jill who resides in Phoenix, Arizona and Stefanie, who lives in Palm Springs, California.

Shelley Sadler is the Program Resources Coordinator for Mosaic which is a nonprofit organization that provides support to people with intellectual disabilities and mental illness.  Shelley supervises all Mosaic programs in Chariton as well as their work services program in Osceola.  She is currently working on her Masters Degree in Psychology.

Shelley and her husband Ron have 4 grown children and live in Osceola where Ron works for Hy-Vee.

The Rotary Board will meet this coming Friday, Sept 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter's Hall.

This is a great way to make up a missed meeting and to learn more about Rotary.

Rotary's Pakistan Polio-Plus Committee partnered with Coca-Cola Beverages Pakistan in April to promote polio eradication.  Coca-Cola Pakistan will print polio-awareness messages on more than 70 million bottle labels and incorporate End Polio Now ringtones at its call stations across the country.  In addition, the company will place permanent messages on 250,000 Coke coolers that will be distributed throughout Pakistan and it will promote National Immunization Days on billboards.  Coca-Cola Pakistan has also agreed to provide sponsored vans as needed to transport polio vaccine, and to help supply clean water in high-risk districts to reduce diarrhea in children.
