Christopher Mattoon is the Marketing Director at AIB College of Business in Des Moines. His passion has always been in education.
Mattoon graduated from West Hancock High School in rural, north-central Iowa at the top of his class in 2004. He earned his Associate of Business degree in 2006 and Bachelor of Science degree in 2008 from AIB, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. He joined the AIB staff in 2006 as an administrative assistant and served in a variety of roles before joining AIB's Marketing Department in 2010.
Throughout his time at AIB, he has been involved with student organizations, planning and organizing college events, supporting administration and overseeing office procedures. Currently, he coordinates the college's marketing efforts and assists the Public Relations department. He helped coordinate the first Veterans History Project (VHP) at AIB and has overseen the ever-growing event each year since.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, traveling and playing golf.
Christopher's presentation will be about the Veterans History Project (VHP) that was created by the Library of
Congress in Washington, D.C. to collect and archive the personal recollections of U.S. wartime veterans of any past or current conflicts so their stories can be told to future generations.
AIB College of Business in Des Moines now has sponsored four annual VHP events, and it volunteers have documented more than 100 veterans' stories, including ones from World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. Veterans at the most recent event served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and U.S. Maritime Service.

The Rotary Board will meet on July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at Carpenter's Hall. This is a great way to make up a missed meeting and to learn more about Rotary.

To help the victims and rebuilding efforts in Moore, Oklahoma, after the devastating EF5 tornado, you can donate funds to the District 6000 H.E.F. (Humanitarian/Educational Foundation) which is our 501(c)3 fund, where a special category for Oklahoma relief is being set up.

Governor Terry Geiger called the district governor of Oklahoma City area to ask for help in identifying Rotary clubs that are engaged in providing relief and rebuilding efforts. Our district leadership team will then direct whatever funds are raised by District 6000 to those clubs that are on the front lines of helping people of Moore and surrounding areas recover from this horrible disaster.

Cammeo Medici is a Chariton native and a graduate of Chariton High School. Our club sponsored her as an Outbound Youth Exchange student to Italy in 2003-04.
Cammeo received the 2012-13 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship and is in Bogota Columbia studying towards her Master's in Public Health at the University of Columbia.
