Curt Smyser, CHS Head Varsity Football Coach, graduated from Chariton High School in 1994 where he competed in football, baseball, wrestling, and track. Curt was an all district football player his junior and senior year. His senior year he received first team All State as an offensive lineman and first team all conference honors in baseball. He attended Graceland University to major in education and play both football and baseball.
Curt began coaching baseball in Chariton in 1996 under Larry Milledge and football in 1997 under Scott Mahmens. In 1998 be became the Head Varsity baseball coach for Chariton and coached for eight years. In 1999-2000 he started teaching in Chariton as the K-5 Physical Education teacher. This is Curt's fourth year as CHS Head Varsity Football Coach. Curt is married to Stacy and they have two daughters, Lexi who is 9 and Brynli 4.

RI President Ron Burton's goal is a little different from membership goals we've had in the past. The goal isn't just to bring in new members. The goal is growing Rotary. The goal is making Rotary bigger, not just with more members, but with more involved, engaged, motivated members who will be the ones to lead us into our future.
Each of us has our own reason for joining Rotary - but he believes we all want to make a difference. We all want to do something meaningful. He feels that is absolutely essential when we talk about membership.
RI President Ron says we're not asking just anyone to join Rotary. We're looking to attract busy, successful, motivated people who care. We're asking them to take their valuable time and give it to Rotary. So if they say yes, and come and join our club, then we'd be better of showing them that their time in Rotary is well spent.
We have to make sure that every Rotarian in every club, has a meaningful job - one that makes a real difference to the club and the community. Because when you're doing something meaningful in Rotary, Rotary is meaningful to you.
In Rotary he feels, we all have something to give. At every stage of our lives and our careers, Rotary has something for all of us - a way to let us do more, be more, and give more. Rotary gives our lives more meaning, more purpose, and greater satisfaction. And the more we give through Rotary, the more Rotary gives back in return. Engage Rotary Change Lives is our goal in 2013-14 - by getting Rotarians involved and inspired, and by making sure that all Rotarians know just what a gift they have in Rotary.

The Rotary Board will meet Friday at 11 a.m. on September 13th at Carpenter's Hall.
This is an easy way to make up a missed meeting and to learn more about Rotary.

Cammeo Medici is a Chariton native and a graduate of Chariton High School. Our club sponsored her as an Outbound Youth Exchange student to Italy in 2003-04.
Cammeo received the 2012-13 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship and is in Bogota Columbia studying towards her Master's in Public Health at the University of Columbia.
