Our speaker, Mr. Craig Smith took ill and will reschedule.

Treasurer, PP Gary Edwards stated that the fees will remain the same for the first quarter of this year.  Cost of breakfast will stay at $14.00 or $168.00 for those paying in advance.  Membership fees will remain at $100.

President Sinclair informed us that June 25, 2001 is the 50th Anniversary of the St. George’s Rotary.  Planning is beginning now, as a spectacular event is envisioned.  Members should note this date in their diaries.

The four incoming Presidents, Area Rep. Alan and Fred Ming met on Friday with the new District Governor Janet to discuss plans for this year.  The District Governor wants each club to set up a PR team.  The Community Projects performed by Pembroke Rotary could then be given a higher profile.  Other ideas are for a newsletter and for Pembroke Rotary’s speakers to be broadcast over radio.  Ken Siggins has the webpage up and running and any input should be sent to him.  PP Gary Edwards also suggested that Nancy Acton be approached about writing an article.

Overseas Rotarians will arrive October 22 –23 for On-To-Bermuda.  St. George’s Rotary will be this year’s host club.  A buffet dinner will be held on October 22.   There will be no annual banquet this year.  The District Governor wants a more relaxed and casual affair with more local Rotarians attending.  There will be either a Boat Cruise on October 26 or a Cocktail Party at Stonington Beach on October 27.  October 28 will be Home Hospitality.  To avoid the confusion of the past, names of overseas Rotarians will be sent to clubs, so members can select the name of the guest you will be picking up.  Overseas Rotarians will be picked up at their hotel by local Rotarians but will be told that they will have to catch a taxi back.

It was also noted that the club directory needs to be updated.

Volunteers are needed for August 2 for the Family Learning Centre’s Tag Day.

More help is needed to complete the Admiralty House project.  A suggestion that a list of jobs to be completed be compiled so that members can select the jobs that they can do.  George Morton will handle getting the electrical inspection completed.

Nea Roloff will be handling the Rotary Exchange student, a 16 year old Italian girl.  Looking into schools and looking for host families.

Wish Bon Voyage to Stephanie who left on Sunday for Malaysia.

President Sinclair will be away for two weeks.  President-elect Alan will chair the first week he is away and Vice President Gilda will chair the second week.

Raffle won by PP John Kessaram.
