Theclub handover meeting was held last week. Sinclair assumed the medal of officefrom Bob.

 

Treasurerand PP Andrew said that he would have a full report in two weeks. Starting withthe pig proceeds he said that it will have raised $1,320 for the interest freestudent loan fund.  $4,000 was awardedin new loans during the year. The auction under the direction of George Cubbonraised $3,200 for Agape House and LCCA.

PPBlake’s Annual Rotary Golf Classic raised nearly $6,000 which was donated inequal shares to Agape House and The Reading Clinic.  The Fair raised $97,314 and after expenses of $40,996, left$46,200 which was donated.

 

KenSiggins-Community Service Director said that the biggest challenge was tofinish the AHCC project and praised the efforts of Tom Trimingham, Jan Card, PPDoug Backeberg, PP Delano, and PP Max. In addition the club did some painting at the Salvation Army NightShelter in advance of Princess Anne’s visit. 

 

GildaFurbert-Vocational Service Director mentioned the two workshops one on theBermuda Stock Exchange and the other on the building trades.  Both well attended and supported by PembrokeRotarians and others.

 

 

Int’lService- Not a great deal but the club supported Tor’s visit

 

ClubService-President Bob stated that the goal of the club was to increasemembership from 30 to 35 but without much effort it reached 38.  During the year nobody quit and no one wasasked to leave. He said that the club was a ‘bottom up’ organization.

 

PresidentBob congratulated all members and mentioned that many members did volunteerwork outside of  Rotary withoutreward.  Examples included PP Max’s worklast weekend carting away unwanted items for Red Cross Rentals

 

Afterreceiving the medal of office from Bob, President Sinclair said that the newpresident of RI was Frank J. Devlyn and that the theme was ‘Create and TakeAction’.  He mentioned that the cost ofbreakfast would increase effective next week. The goal of RI was to increasemembership and there would be awards for individuals who inducted members.

 

OnStudent Exchange, he said that the club was committed to having another studentand that he would be looking for a coordinator.  He had spoken to the mother of Christine Consila, the nextstudent.

 

AlanPailing will take the two meetings after July 6 as Sinclair will be awayrepresenting Bermuda in a shooting competition.
