Spouses’ night dinner
was held at the Monte Carlo Restaurant.
The venue had to be changed because of a scheduling conflict by the
RBYC. President Elect Alan
Pailing prepared a report on the 2001 Children’s Fair, which was handed out to
members. The report noted that there
had been a lot of feedback, most of which was positive. The following are extracts from the report. The Continental
Society congratulated the club and asked for help with their June children’s
fair. This request was declined on
behalf of the club but advice and contacts were offered. The Bank of Bermuda has also asked for the
club to run game stalls at their annual staff summer party. The Bank is willing to donate $2000 to any
PRC charity. People could not
believe there was no admission fee, this was a tremendous idea, that was great
PR for the club. Prizes: Inflatable prizes are preferred by parents and children to the stuffed
toys. They eliminated the danger of
aggravating asthma and are more attractive. Small prizes be the
responsibility of the stall managers and given out at the individual stalls and
not at the Prize Stall. Fair: It has been agreed that we will do whatever it takes to ensure that
every child walks away with a prize. Posters and
Flyers: Exposure in the Royal Gazette and Bermuda Sun
is sufficient. Posters are not needed
in bulk and money can be save on printing costs. Manpower: The Fair runs from Thursday to Monday, all PRC members should make
themselves available. It should be a
requirement of the beneficiary to provide adult volunteer manpower. In future we can provide them with a blank
list to be completed with volunteer names.
This way the PRC is aware of whom to expect. Thank You letter was
published in the Royal Gazette the following Saturday. Letters have been printed and ready to go to
the financial donors.
