There will be no guest speaker on this evening as this week has been put aside for a club forum.   We will however have the pleasure of one of our club members give a speech.

Friday 17th Sep, 2010  -  Huge Success !!!!!!!

Special "Footy Legend"Guest Speaker
Matthew Richardson a retired professional AFL footballer who player for Richmond. The club's key forward through the late 1990s and the 2000s, leading goal scorer thirteen times and selected in the All Australian team in 1996, 1999 and 2008. Matthew also continues to make his mark as a media commentator with Network 10.

Last Friday morning we had the pleasure of Matthew Richardson speek at one of the clubs largest fundraising events the Footy Finals Breakfast.  

Matthew spoke about his playing career, how he got involved, his role as a league footballer, the ups and the downs, the ones he admired, the supporters the media. Matthew also answered many questions put to him from the room which were most interesting and informative. We would like to thank Matthew very much for attending  and supporting our event  and wish him every success in the future.

We would also like to thank Brad Aires Auctioneer. Brad who was most entertaining  did a terrific job assisting the club to raise many dollars on the 3 items  auctioned. Thank you Brad for your time and effort.

We also need to thank the many  members who assisted in some way or another for this event to be such a success.  Well done to all those who contributed whether it was just on the day or for the weeks leading up to this event.

A thankyou to the 26 plus business who donated raffle prizes, business card draw prize and side plate prize draw.  Your contribution along with those who donated monies is greatly appreciated.

Community Safety Day

Melbourne City Council have once again asked The Rotary Club of Albert Park to run a BBQ for this hugh event.  We will seeking several members to work on this day as there is estimated to be 1000's attend.

This year, Community Safety Day at Docklands Sunday 24th October will the premier event of Community Safety Month. There will be live demonstrations throughout the day to show how services "work together" during an emergency.   There will be displays providing education and promotion of how every Victorian can take an active role in community safety.

Victoria's emergency and safety services are bringing their special skills and impressive equipment to a fun day at Docklands. The wow factor will be high as you get close to helicopters, boats, fire trucks, working dogs and horses, interactive displays, emergency demonstrations, water rescues, specialised vehicles used to 'work together' in rescues and emergencies around Victoria.  

The event offers family oriented entertainment including children's photograph opportunities, face painting, prizes & giveaways.   Plus, performing live will be Victoria Police Show Band. 
Join all the fun and meet those who work and volunteer to protect us and keep us safe. Learn more about safety and explore the many volunteer-based opportunities. With demonstrations, displays, kids' activities and more - don't miss a great day out at Docklands.

Keep up to date with all the people and organisations involved to make this special day successful over the coming weeks via Docklands TV starting 26th Aug.
