Next Weeks Speaker February 2, 2011

At next weeks CLUB MEETING there will be a presentation from  the President and his Directors who will outline their plans for the coming 6 months in 2011.

Last Weeks Speaker Sarah Hornby

Last week we had the pleasure of Sarah Hornby speek at our meeting about Opportunity International Australia.
Sarah spoke on how little money most people have in India, Indonesia and The Philippines, how difficult it is for them to make ends meet or run a business. How Opportunity International Australia assists with monies so many of these people can set up and run a business to then go on to make more money. They exist  to provide opportunities for people living in poverty to transform their lives. With over 35 years' experience in microfinance and support services, they use a business approach to solve poverty r
ather than a hand-out.  They provide clients with a loan as small as $100 (known as microcredit or a micro loan) to help grow their small business. This enables them to earn an income and afford food, water, shelter and an education for their children. Sarah was most interesting and informative and we would like to thank her for her time, and presentation.
