This Weeks Speaker Najaf Mazari Afgan Refugee

Please Note.  There has been a change of speaker for this week.  We were going to have club    members Ian Wavish and Loretta Michaelsen speak but as we have been able to obtain Najaf Mazari he will now speak on this evening.

Mr. Najaf Mazari a refugee from the town of Mazar-e-Sharif in northern Afghanistan  came to Australia in 2000.

Najaf is an ethic Hazara. He left his homeland of Afghanistan in 2000 fleeing the Taliban, and his memories of the destruction it had wrought upon his family.  After a long hourney over land and sea, and a time in the Wommera Immigration Detention Centre, Nahjaf found hinmself in Melbourne.  After a few difficult years building a life in Australia , he was finally joined by his wife Hakeema and daughter Maria.

Najaf and some of his friends established a Mazar Development Fund in 2007 to raise financial support for health and education programs in the town of Mazar-e-Sharif. Najaf will be speaking about his life and the programs being undertaken by the Fund.

This promises to be both an informative and entertaining session and one not to be missed.

Last Weeks Speaker Annette Allison

Last week we had the pleasure of Annette Allison who is the Public Affairs Manager, Victoria Division for the Royal Flying Doctor Service speak at our meeting.

Annette spoke about providing excellence in aero-medical and primary health care across Australia.
How every day in many ways the Royal Flying Doctor Service takes the finest care to Australia's furthest corners so that anyone who lives, works or travels in remote and rural Australia can enjoy the best of health.  Annette was most interesting and informative and we would like to thank her for attending our meeting and giving such a great presentation.

The venue is the All Seasons Motel McIvor Rd Bendigo.  We would like to have a full house for the farewell to the Texas team and the team would appreciate your support.
