| This Weeks Speaker - Jennnifer Lamattina
Jennifer Lamattina
LL.B (Hons) B.Comm. Author
Beautiful Accommondation in Victoria and Tasmania.
Jennifer practised as a commercial lawyer for five years before seeing the light. A passion for travel then led her to establish a publishing company, What Next' Productions.
Her first book, Beautiful B&Bs and Small Hotels: Victoria was released in November 1997 and quickly became a best seller. BeautifulB&Bs and Small Hotels: Tasmania was published in November 1998 and went on to win an Australian Tourism Award in 1999. Her third edition was released in November 1999 (a combined Victorian and South Australian edition), her 2001 combined Victorian and Tasmanian edition was a sell out, as was her 2003 edition (a combined Victorian, Tasmanian and South Australian book). In 2004, she released the first NSW edition, Beautiful Accommodation in New South Wales. Her biggest seller to date was Beautiful Accommodation in Victoria and Tasmania (6th edition) which released in November 2005. Her latest guide, Beautiful Accommodation in Victoria and Tasmania (7th edition) was released in December 2007.
Jennifer is also a freelance writer for various newspapers and corporate publications. When not travelling, she has found time to be a board game question writer for Cranium, a TV quiz show adjudicator for Who Wants to be a Millionaire and restaurant reviewer for TheAge Good Food Guide. She is still not sure what she wants to do when she grows up.

| Asylum Seeker Employment Project - Profiles
Asylum Seeker Employment Project
The Rotary Club of Albert Park
together with members from
Brigidine AsylumSeekers
Project
http://www.brigidineasp.org.au/
are working together on the
Asylum Seeker Employment Project.
The first
challenge facing new arrivals in Australia is to find a job. Another big challenge is to become known in the local community. These two challenges are connected. It is said that 80% of job vacancies are never advertised and that many jobs are filled through word of mouth or through networking. Networking is talking to people you know about jobs.
New arrivals in Australia don't have any networks, which are so important, especially in getting their first job. This is especially in the case of Asylum Seekers because their families, friends and people they worked with in the past are not in Australia.
In order to help them become better known locally the RCAP has offered to assist asylum seekers associated the Brigidine Asylum Seekers Project by placing profiles of individual asylum seekers on their web site for their members. It is hoped that some of these members may be able to assist some of you with your job search or perhaps with work experience opportunities in Australian workplaces.
Note: Below profiles may take a little longer than normal to open.
