Archinal, finished up February with another
outstanding program! Our presenter, Jason
Herrick, a proud daddy of three kids, including a
newborn, talked to us about the "Downtown Amarillo
Revitalization." Back in the day, Amarillo was known
as "The Brightest Strip This Side of Las
Vegas." The goal of Downtown Amarillo is to make
downtown a place to live, work, play, and worship. They are
well on their way of completing their goal. There are a number
of condos, lofts and retirement communities; many businesses;
a number of restaurants, clubs, and other facilities to enjoy
the arts; and a place where more than 4,000 people go to
worship on a single Sunday. Jason gave us a detailed timeline
of the things that Downtown Amarillo has accomplished. Thanks
to Jason and his team for their continued efforts to make
Downtown Amarillo a wonderful place to be!
St. Mary's Catholic Church was the scene on
February 24th for the fundraiser/concert by Francesco
Attesti. If you were lucky enough to attend this
concert, you were impressed by Francesco's (a fellow Rotarian)
incredible talent. Thanks to everyone who had a part in
organizing this event. It was truly first class! And Francesco
enjoyed himself, too. Here is a short note he sent to Club
President Jake Richards: "Ciao Jake, just
a brief note to thank you once again for the wonderful
organization of the evening, it was a pleasure meeting you and
spending time with you. I hope we could meet us soon again.
Please extend my warmest greetings to your Rotary Club
members."
We have THREE new member proposals for
