Wheels for July 12
by John Kanelis

Rotary After Hours returned with a flourish this past week as Rotarians and their guests gathered at the Bar Z Winery south of town. We were treated to plenty of food and wine -- as well as other beverages -- made at the location as well as a tour of the winery. The tour included an introduction to a device used to crush the grapes grown for the wine. The name of the grape crusher, appropriately enough, is Lucy ... named in honor of Lucy Ricardo, who made the art of grape-crushing famous with her hilarious televised skit on "I Love Lucy" many years ago.

And it was nice to see several familiar faces at the Bar Z, some of whom have been missing from our weekly Thursday meetings.

Thanks to all who attended. And thanks to our hosts who put on a wonderful event full of fun and fellowship.

We're back at the Amarillo Club this week to resume our weekly meetings. Don't forget to take part in the weekly Rotary International Foundation drawing. The pot is starting to grow quickly once again after the big payout in June.
