Wheels
for March 8 by Denise
Blanchard
Amarillo is home to
one of two Texas A&M Veterinary Diagnotic Clinics in the
state and leading the way is Phillips native Dr. Robert
Sprowls, who has been the Director since 1981. The Clinic
has 3 main areas of responsibility, to provide testing on
sick, dying and diseased animals and regulatory testing on
exports, show and animals to be sold to ensure herd health; to
protect animal industries by identifying new diseases; and
serve as a testing facility for some foreign animal diseases.
The clinic employs 25 people including DVMs and
bacteriologists who work with outside veterinarians, Homeland
Security, and other states to identify new strains of diseases
as they evolve and change and work hard to protect animal
health. Thank you to Rocky and Mark for an interesting
program.
Don't forget this year's district conference
in Ruidoso, N.M. Here's a link to more info for the event to
be held June 8-10,

The Rotary Club of Amarillo is encouraging
funds for the local Foundation, which has helped pay off
the club's long-term commitment to the YMCA's development of
Rotary Park. There were envelopes on tables at lunch to make
it easier to help restore the Foundation fund. It's tax
deductible. Just contribute what you can to help our
Foundation benefiting the Rotary Club of Amarillo.
Please turn in your ticket stubs to Gina for
the travel voucher raffle before April 1.
Sorry
to report that we have received the resignation of John
Maynard.
The Salvation Army has presented
Rotary Club of Amarillo a certificate in appreciation for our
help serving as bell ringers at Christmas.
Big thanks go this week to: President
John Early for presiding. David O'Dell for
leading us in song. Melvin Edes for providing the
invocation and beef jerky Dale Bippus and Rocky Gafford
for a warm greeting, serving as March Program Chair and pizza
. Karen Hicks for introducing guests and
visiting Rotarians. Dusty Sloan for selling
Foundation
tickets.
