Wheels for Nov 24
by John Kanelis

The Holiday Season is here, which of course is the reason why we didn't meet this week. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday. We'll all gather again next week to resume our programs and enjoy each other's company and fellowship.

We'll meet Thursday at the Country Club on Dec. 1, but we won't meet the following week (more on that in a moment). We'll move to the Amarillo Club downtown (31st floor of the Chase Tower) for our Dec. 15 gathering. No meetings are scheduled for Dec. 22 and 29 because of Christmas. We meet once again at the Amarillo Club on Jan. 5. Mark all this down. We'll see you there.

Regarding our Dec. 8 plans, be sure to attend the Rotary Club of Amarillo Christmas Party, beginning at 6:30 p.m. that evening at the Amarillo Club. We'll be seated for dinner at 7. Our emcee for the evening will be past Club president -- and current quipster -- John Huffaker. Cost will be $35 per person. Make your reservations by calling Gina at the Rotary office (352-3108) or by emailing her at rotaryof@arn.net. We'll see y'all there.

Don't forget to sign up for Bell Ringing on behalf of the Salvation Army. Sign up sheets will be available at our Club meeting Thursday (Dec. 1).

We'll be voting soon on a new slate of officers for the Club. We'll be electing three board members. Candidates for the board are David O'Dell, Gaye Chalfant, Pete Boyce, Betty Keith, Rocky Gafford and Shara Hinchey. We'll also be electing a president-elect who'll get ready next Rotary year to take office in June 2013. Candidates for president-elect are Lea Ann Fulton and Mike Good.

The Boys Ranch Choir will be entertaining us with its annual Christmas selection. We give annually to Boys Ranch. Give what you can to this wonderful organization, founded in 1939 by the great Cal Farley who, in addition, was a proud member of the Rotary Club of Amarillo and a past District 5730 governor.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
