Wheels for October 28
by Denise Blanchard

Since 1908, Family Support Services has been supporting children and families in the Panhandle. Executive Director Janet Byers, spoke about the four divisions that make up FSS, Behavioral Health and Wellness, Crisis Services, Education, and Child Care. FSS has the only "safe house" in the area for female domestic abuse victims and provides hotel accommodations for the male domestic abuse victims they encounter. Many of the problems they see are directly related to poverty. FSS is a United Way agency and is able to provide services on a sliding scale basis. They have many opportunities for volunteers to become involved from the 24-hour crisis volunteers to special events assistance, give them a call if you are interested.

The Membership Contest is off and running! John Early provided a list of team members. Next week, teams have been asked to sit together to name the team and determine the charity of your choice should your team win the contest prize. Stay tuned for more details.
