      Interact members members were not present today.

Makeups

      Shirley Conway made up on line, David Slade, Julie Geary, Dave Stotzer made up at Interact, and Carole Sharoff, President Don, Tony Corrao, Cheryl Aparo, Bruce Horne and Joe Parisi made up at the District Conference.  Dave Sullivan made up at Singer Island, Florida, and Rudy Macchi made up in Rockport.

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

         

    Don Sudbay Sr. celebrated his 80th birthday today.  Jim Marr made a call to Don Sr. in Florida and the group sang a long-distance "Happy Birthday to You!"   Don Jr. fined his father $80.

    Julie LaFontaine celebrated her 5th anniversary with the Open Door.  Sue Ellis is celebrating 22 “wonderful” years of marriage. 

 

Vacations

     Brad Pierce spent 3 days in Vegas; John Dugger spent 3 days at home nursing a head cold.  Julie LaFontaine spent 4 days in Michigan visiting her sister’s new baby.  Roger Armstrong is finally leaving for vacation on Friday.

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

     Mark Grenier was happy to announce that he and his wife are expecting their third child.  Carole Sharoff was happy that her 13 year old son was part of a song about West Parish School.  Cheryl Aparo was happy the Rockport town meeting is finally over. Christopher Farmer was happy to be going on vacation.  Ruth Pino was excited about the Rockport Chamber Orchester Project.  Joe Parisi was happy to have installed the last of the picnic benches at the children’s park.  Bruce Horne was happy to meet a financial goal.  Greg Bover was happy his son has an opportunity to do an internship with Target’s Design Studio this summer.  Christopher Farmer was happy that Greg’s son had a free airline ticket to his Target interview; he regrets that he has to pay for his own fight on his upcoming vacation. 

 

  Fines

       President Don gave out a seat  belt fine in honor of Jim Marr, and the crazy New Jersey Govenor that almost got killed because he was not wearing a seat belt.  Joe Parisi was fined for breaking a bench at the park.  Steve Dexter was fined for being Steve Dexter today. Rotarians who opened their sample of the Fisherman's Brew beer were fined.

  Save the Date:

 

   April 27th is the Spelling Bee  sponsored by the Gloucester Education Collaborative.  We enter a team, if you think you can spell check with Mike Costello to sign up.

 

Stage Fort Park:  Work days are scheduled for April  21, 28 and May 19 at the Bandstand 

 

 April 28, 2007 -  Rotary Second Annual Spaghetti Supper at the Rose Baker Senior Center. 

 

 April 29 the is the day for the Annual Pride Stride...Please walk or sponsor a walker. 

 

 May 1st the Interact Club will run our meeting. The guest speaker for the day is Donna Lee Rubin, who will talk about Roto-Plast. Be prepared to pay some heavy fines, the Interact members rule with an iron gavel!

 

 May 16 Paul Harris Dinner with guests of honor Maud Warren and Barry Pett.  Cocktails 5:30 to 6:30 PM, dinner follows.  Cost is $45.00 per person, Rotarians can deduct $14.00 from the cost. The Paul Harris Dinner is a must-see event.  Please plan on attending, all are welcome! 

 

 ABC of Rotary Moment

    

     David Kenny is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary Moment, Julie LaFontane is first backup, Matt Langis is the second backup, and the third backup is Jim Marr. Please have your ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...   Steve Kaity  gave an ABC of Rotary Moment.  Brian McCook won the money, and Charlie Foster won the flowers.  Mark Grenier won the the card raffle today. Mark will split $1400 with the club.  Congrats to Mark!

 


Speakers....  Michael Beaton of the Cape Ann Brewing Company talked about the process for starting up a micro brewery. Michael then fielded an astonishing number of questions from a very  interested audience.
