      Georgia Keefe Feldman was visiting from the Beverly Club, Heiko Hecht from Wiesbaden, Germany, and Kenneth Stager from Tallahassee, Florida.

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     No birthdays were reported today.  Cheryl Collins is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of starting Ocean Optical.

   

Vacations

      Donna Morris vacationed in Ohio over the weekend.  Greg Bover spent his vacation at home.  Jim Marr, David Babson and Cheryl Collins  went to Maine, and David McArdle went to London for a week.

 

Happy Thoughts

       Sue Todd was happy that lobster "Lorenzo" is home at Pathways.  He was found behind the Gloucester Times building. Lorenzo is damaged, but  will be fixed in time for  the Pathway's Auction. 

       Sue also thanked Howard Frisch for odering a Rotary shirt that could double as a dress.

       Mary Black was happy her son played in the little league world series.

       Ruth Pino was pleasently supprised when she purchased a flag at the Building Center.  All flags are sold at cost.

       Howard Frisch was happy to have found the missing bussiness cards, so the placemats are now in production.

       Josh Arnold was happy his book will be in production in three weeks.

       David Slade was just happy to be here today.

       Scott Chernov was happy to receive  all the e-mail Rotary has been generating  latley.

       President Joe was happy that the Sidewalk Bazaar went well this year.

       Cheryl Colins was happy her daughter had the opportunity to attend camp.

    

Fines

       Brad Pierce and Mike Costello were fined for being quoted in the Globe North Shore Sunday Edition.  Rudy was fined for being Rudy.  Mike Costello was fined for rebutting the President.  Mike was also fined for the quality of vendors he was bringing to the Sidewalk Bazaar.  Mike,  we just want vendors that do not take a swing at each other and have to have the police come to make arrests! Howard Frisch was fined for "temporarily misplacing" all the business cards collected for the advertising on the placemats for the  Pancake Breakfast.

    

    Club News

   

 Thank you Dennis Acker for taking notes today!

 

       Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, August 21, 2004 from 6:00 to 11:00 AM at the bandstand at Stage Fort Park.  Rotarians are expected to attend.  This is one of our biggest and most visible fundraiser event.  We need a strong show of force,  dressed in our new shirts and looking like the professional club that we are.  Please bring some support troops (children, grandchildren, spouses, partner, etc.) to share in the fun.  A good time will be had by all.  Rotarians who do not partciipate in the breakfast can expect a heavy fine the following Tuesday.  Please sign up with Howard Frisch and Charlie Foster.  Our goal this year will be to sell 650 breakfast.  Remember - parking is free when you buy a ticket.

 

     Jim Perry and Dennis Acker are organizing our Cape Ann Rotary Social  Boat Trip for August 25 at 6:30 PM, departing from the Seven Seas Wharf.  The trip will be an evening cruise shared with  the Rockport, and Essex / Manchester Club.  The boat cruise is in lieu of a meeting and is a no-charge event.  First come , first serve.  A light supper will be served along with a cash bar for  the Rockport Rotarians and their guests.  Please call Dennis Acker at 978-283-0610 or e-mail at DENNIS.ACKER@CITIZENSBANK.COM to reserve your spots.  Capacity is 150 passengers.

Winners and Losers... Josh Arnold and Donna Morris won the beverage of choice. David Babson won the money, and Bill Mantz won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.

 

Speakers....  The club held a business meeting today.

 

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on baked haddock and riece and vegetable..  The dinners at my table gave the food 4 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal the diners suggested fresh vegetables.
