     John Jameson was visiting from the Haverhill Rotary Club.

     John Rando had Dean Lavoie as his guest today.  Joe Parisi had David Rose, Fitz Lufkin Jr., and City Councilor (and mayoral candidate) Jim Destino.  Mark Grenier had Maryann Blane as his guest today.  Jim Marr had Linda Robbins, our speaker today, as his guest. 

 

Interact Club

     Interact members are on summer vacation. 

 

Makeups

      John Dugger made up in Rockport.

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     No birthdays were reported today.  Carole Sharoff is celebrating 15 "wonderful" years of marriage with husband Bill. 

 

Vacations

    Mike Sarraf spent 7 day in Toronto. Todd Tanger went to Kennebunkport for a vacation with the family.  Josh Arnold also took a week off for vacation.  Sue Ellis vacationed in  Lincoln, New Hampshire.

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

    Mike Sarraf was happy to announce  he is going to be married this coming Labor Day weekend.  Cheryl Collins was happy to be finished laying down 210 cobblestones at one of her many homes. Sinikka Nogelo was happy to be showing her art once again.  Charlie Foster was proud to be a Rotarian and see everyone come together for the Pancake Breakfast.  Jim Marr was happy to have stored one of the pancake grills on the second floor of Fosters until a piece came off and just missed his head.  ( Charlie reports that the grill is just fine.) Dave Stotzer told a classic fish story not only involving a fish, but a bird - a Night Heron.  John Dugger was happy to finally have the opportunity to go for a make-up meeting at the Rockport Club; he was duly impressed.  Joe Ciolino was happy to have survived sitting next to Rudy at mass on Sunday.  ( Joe' was concerned that Rudy would be hit by lighting and Joe would suffer collateral damage.) Greg Bover was happy to once again have C.B. Fisk featured on  the news show ChronicleGreg was also happy to have see a Blue Heron. Brian McCook was happy his son is now a proud home owner.  Sergey Semlyanski was impressed by a seagull.  Linda  Robbins also was happy to tell us about  a Burger King eating seagull. 

 

 Fines

     Mike Sarraf was fined for missing the Pancake Breakfast, and for not wearing his badge today.

  Todd Tanger and  Mike Grenier also missed the Pancake Breakfast this year.    Rick Doucette, Barry Pett were fined for their photo's in the GDT's.  Brad Pierce paid a beer fine.  Joe Parisi was fined for assembling Jim Destino's Mayoral Campaign Inner Circle  at today's Rotary meeting.

    Club News

Howard Frisch gave a quick back-of-the-envelope summary of the 2007 Pancake Breakfast.  800 breakfast were served, and we did not run out of any supplies this year. A detailed report will follow. 

 

Save the Date:      Comedy Show on August 30th.

 

District Governor Julia Phelps will be at our October 2nd meeting.                      

 

 ABC of Rotary Moment

    

     Jim Perry is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary MomentBarry Pett is first backup, and Brad Pierce is the second backup, third backup is Ruth Pino.  Please have your   ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...  Joe Parisi  gave an ABC of Rotary Moment.  John Rando  won the money, and the flowers were given to our speaker,  Linda Robbins.  No winners today in the card raffle.

 


Speakers.... Jim Marr introduce our guest speaker today, Linda Robbins.  Jim met Linda when the weathervane at the bandstand was taken down to be repaired.  (The weathervane was dedicated to her daughter, Suzanne, who died in 1984 of cancer.) Linda thanked the club for our dedication to the bandstand and repairing the weathervane. She made a special point of thanking   Greg Bover for putting the restoration efforts together.  The weathervane is now working, indicating wind direction at beautiful  Stage Fort Park.
