Birthdays & Anniversaries
Fran Mondello and Rick Doucette both celebrated their birthdays today. Several wedding anniversaries were reported today; some of which I can report - George Roark is celebrating 39 "wonderful" years of marriage, Marc Sandler is at 38 years, and Pat Thorpe is celebrating their 12th.
Vacations
Steve Kaity went to Las Vegas and North Conway, George Roark went to Mount Washington, Mike Costello went to New York, Steve Dexter spent his vacation on the Annisquam River, and Rick Doucette spent 9 weeks at Camp Spindrift as a work/vacation.
Happy Thoughts
Scott Chernov was happy his car is legal again. (I just report, I do not elaborate.) Brad Pierce was happy to be upgraded to a suite on a recent trip. Brad was also happy to have his granddaughter win a photo contest held recently. Charlene Glynn was happy to have a baby sitter take care of her new baby so she could have a "date" with her hubby. Dave Slade was happy that his daughter purchased a condo in California. Joe Parisi was happy to drive his son to college in Framingham, but was a little bit unhappy to repeat the trip to pick up the Building Center's night deposit bag he forgot in his son's truck. Cheryl Collins was happy to have Ocean Optical voted number one in the region. Greg Bover was happy to have had a successful registration for the Soap Box Derby. Ruth Pino was happy her office raised $700 for the Jimmy Fund.
Fine
President Jim gave Steve Dexter a pruning fine, and a misappropriation of a Rotary sign fine.
Club News
Don Sudbay Jr. gave Carole Gray, acting Director of the Sawyer Free Library, two checks for books for the children's library. Don also gave a check to Rick Doucette, and Sal Frontiero, both representing the Cape Ann YMCA . Howard Frisch and Charlie Foster updated the club on the Pancake Breakfast. This year's event was the best-ever in tickets sold and breakfasts served. The final figures are not in, but it was all very successful. Thank you to all who participated in this fun event.
President Jim received a resignation from Kathy Ciluffo, resigning due to work scheduling conflicts. Kathy said she would like to return as her scheduling permits. We will miss Kathy, she was one of our true worker bees.
Dates to remember... September 29th is the Past President's Dinner to be held in the Harbor room at Norwood Court ( off East Main Street). Please check the calendar section of our web site for more details on the dinner.
Winners and Losers... No winner in the beverage of choice. Dave Stotzer won the money, and Kathy Bliss won the flowers. Steven Gillespie, a guest, won today in the card raffle splinting around $1400.
Speakers.... Kathy Bliss, Director of North Shore Hospice, spoke about the new hospice care facility in Danvers.
