Vacations
Brad Pierce vacationed in Jamaica and Vermont. Steve Dexter went to New Jersey to start a vacation to Copenhagen and Stockholm, ending up with a bad flight back to New Jersey. David Kenny went for a motorcycle trip to Seabrook, New Hampshire. Don Sudbay went to Vancouver for a business trip/vacation.
Happy Thoughts
Sinikka Nogelo was just celebrating a happy day today. Jim Marr was happy the space shuttle had a safe landing. Cheryl Collins was happy her son came back well from a Boy Scout trip. Dave Stotzer was happy to be back at Rotary. Brad Pierce was happy that Dave Babson was healing well after recent heart surgery. Don Sudbay Jr. was happy to read that polio is about to be eradicated around the world. John Dugger was happy to meet a former neighbor today at Rotary. Sue Todd was happy that Bruce Horne was looking dapper today.
Fine
President Jim fined members who did not go to the Sidewalk Bazaar last week. Brad Pierce was fined for an extra dessert, and members not wearing their Rotary Pin were fined.
Club News
Don Sudbay Jr., presented Margaret McBride a check for the Adult Learning Center. Bill Dugan, the Executive Director of the GHA, also received a check for a special children's playground project.
Thank You Notes were received from Candice Walgrin, representing HAWC, and Jane Woodbury from the VNA.
Dates to remember!... August 16th is the Annual Rotary Cruise aboard the Privateer IV, no regular meeting will be held that day. August 20th is the date for the Pancake Breakfast. September 29th is the date for the Past President's Dinner at the Harbor Room at Norwood Court ( off of East Main Street). Please check the calendar section of our web site for more details on the above events. September 6, no regular meeting is scheduled. The board will also not meet on September 6.
Winners and Losers... Sue Todd won the beverage of choice. Jon Morse won the money, and Don Sudbay Jr. won the flowers. No winners today in the card raffle. The winner will split $2200!
Speakers.... Don Sudbay introduced our guest speaker today, Fred Capowitz. Fred spoke about how effective a good marketing program can be to any business.
