Happy Thoughts

President Sinikka found herself under the weather for Thanksgiving and was happy that Julie Geary's Classic Cooks came to the rescue with a Thanksgiving dinner for her family.  Barry Pett was happy to read an e-mail from his brother, Arley, our speaker last week.  Arley wanted to thank some businesses for their contributions to the Veterans Organization.  Thank you to Bank Gloucester for donating to the Veteran's Building a heating boiler from one of the recently demolished store fronts. Thank you to he Weathervane for donating the holiday cards to be sent to Gloucester service men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Thank you to all the businesses that donated to the WW2 Memorial and helped to make the memorial a  reality.  Joe Parisi was happy to have a job offer from Jackson Lumber in Lawrence.  Joe's wife Di, accepted the offer for him.  Maggie Rosa was happy to look at the preservation work on the City Hall tower.  Mike Sarraf was happy he was not picked as a juror for a 5-week trial at the Federal Courthouse in Boston.  Rudy Macchi was happy Carole Sharoff taught him how to make up a meeting on line.  (Carole, did you also teach Rudy how to turn on his computer?)  Judy LaFontaine was happy for the help the Food Pantry received from the Interact Club at Thanksgiving time.  Julie was also happy that her mother and father came for a visit during Thanksgiving.  Pat Thorpe was happy his in-laws were visiting for 4 days, and Pat was mostly happy that he managed to spend those 4 days away from his house.  President Sinikka was happy to have had some family as guests for Thanksgiving.  David McKechnie was happy that even with the downturn in his parents retirement fund, his parents still loved him.  ( David, the year is not over yet.)  Jon Morse was happy to have had an interesting  conversation with a visitor from Mumbai (formerly Bombay), India during Thanksgiving dinner at his son's house in Atlanta.   Sal Frontiero was happy his bathroom floor was dug up and the leak has been repaired.  Sal is now looking forward to a new bathroom floor.

 Fines

President Sinikka fined Todd Tanger for not participating in the Chamber's Magnolia Home Tour.  Rotarians wearing blue shirts were fined again, also if you were wearing a blue shirt with a white collar.  John Rando once again received his shorts and short sleeve fine.  Rotarians not wearing their Rotary pins were fined.  Rotarians that were sitting  at unisex tables were fined. (The message here is to mix it up, people!) Rudy was fined for being Rudy today.  Tony Corrao was fined for a (Santa) photo in the paper.

    Club News

Please remember that December 9th (tomorrow) is Teddy Bear Tuesday.   Please bring a new teddy bear with a value of at least $10.00 to our meeting.  The bears will be donated to the Gloucester Police and stored in each cruiser, waiting patiently to calm children during a crisis.  The bears have a proven, soothing effect on traumatized children.  If you cannot find the time to shop, a $10.00 donation will be accepted in lieu of bringing a bear to the meeting.
