     Nicky from the Rockport Club was visiting today. 

 

Guests of Rotarians

     President Sinikka had Steve Noble as her guest today.  Ruth Pino's guest was Bob Hastings, the new Director of the  Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce.  

 

Interact Club  

      Interact members were not present today.

 

Makeups

      Makeups reported today: Matt Langis made up in Rockport, Roger Corbin made up Worcester, and Maggie Rosa made up online.

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     No birthdays were reported today.  Mark Grenier was happy to be celebrating his 6 year anniversary of working for Bank Gloucester.  Roger Corbin is happy to be celebrating 32 years as a Rotarian. 

 

Vacations

       Barry Pett was happy to have visited Key West.  John Rando went to Pennsylvania, and Jon Morse spent 13 days in Florida.  Julie LaFontaine spent an overnight in Maine. 

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

       Ruth Pino is happy to have Rick Doucette and Ed Collard on the Chamber's House and Garden Show committee.  Ruth was also happy Todd Tanger is going to be the new President of the Chamber.  Charlie Foster was happy that the sign issues at both of his stations have been resolved.  David McKechnie, John Rando, Barry Pett, and Steve Noble were all happy to have bought tires from East Coast Tire.  Julie LaFontaine was happy her daughter's sudden eye infection was caught in time.  Terri Jones was happy the City of Gloucester did a good job on her road during the last storm.  Christopher Farmer was happy about some recent  second round MCAS scores, all the students passed. 

 

 Fines

       Todd Tanger was fined by President Sinkka for not attending the the Chamber's Women's Luncheon in his new role as Chamber President.  Evidently, Todd is getting women's issue advice from Joe Paris, who told him to not attend the event. Todd has learned a costly lesson about where his gets his counseling.  Rick Doucette was fined for promoting a movie in which he appears, and  is having its premier in Gloucester.  President Sinikka fined members who were wearing clothing advertising their businesses, and men wearing ties were  fined.  Members who sat at the same table last week were fined. Bob Ryan was fined for being the winner of the big card raffle.  President Sinikka fined Howard Frisch for his long tenure with the Chamber's "Entrepreneurial Sprit" program.

   

  Club News

    Mike Gigliotti is recuperating at Seacoast Nursing. 

    Carole Sharoff will be hosting a "Fireside Chat" with new members at her home on February 4th.  Members who have not attended a "Fireside Chat" should schedule themselves to be in attendance on February 4th. Spouses, significant others and partners are all welcomed to attend and learn more about Rotary. 

     Plans are forming as to our adult-only Holiday Party, or if you will, a Valentine Party.  Time date, and place will be announced. 

 

 ABC of Rotary Moment

    

     Mike Sarraf is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary MomentDavid Slade is first backup, David Stotzer is the second backup, and the third backup is Don Sudbay. Please have your   ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...   Kim Spanner gave an ABC of Rotary Moment.  Mark Grenier won the money, and President Sinikka won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.


Speakers.... Ruth Pino introduced the new President of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, Bob Hastings.  Bob talked about himself, and his career.
