Happy Thoughts

Steve Kaity was happy his daughter’s Girl Scout Troop is participating in a program to send Girl Scout Cookies overseas to the troops.

Herb Goodick was happy his old shipmate sent him a ten-dollar reimbursement for the  “Normandy sand” Herb sent him.

Pat Thorpe was happy to introduce Mark Grenier, the new Vice President of Commercial Lending for the Gloucester Co-op bank.

Scott Chernov was happy to be planning his wedding on June 15th of this year. Scott and fiancée have chosen the gazebo at Stage Fort Park as the place for the ceremony. Scott, just a tip - make sure you reserve June 15 with the City Clerk’s office so you do not bump into another wedding or a Rotary paint crew!

Joe Parisi was happy that Scott might show up to help paint the gazebo this year.

David McKechnie was happy to be all moved, and vowed never to move again.

        No birthdays or anniversaries today.

Fines

Pat Thorpe was fined for his little advertisement today.

Club News

On January 30th at 7pm, Jeanne Blake will have a viewing of the video “When Talking With Kids About Alcohol” and a discussion afterward. Our club has donated $500.00 toward purchasing enough videos for all of the Gloucester Schools, in addition to the accompanying books, plus help in sponsoring the evening’s events.

As you remember, Jeanne visited us and showed a portion of the video we purchased. Everyone is encouraged to pop in on the 30th at the Gloucester High School Auditorium and see just how our money is being utilized for such a worthwhile project.

Steve Kaity will be giving a full report of the next fundraiser. The event will be a shopping spree at Shaw’s on Eastern Avenue.

A thank you note was received from Dan McDonald for the trip he won last year.

Winners and Losers… No won the beverage of choice, Rudy Macchi won the money, Denice Acker won the flowers. No winners in the card raffle today.

Speakers… Bill Rochford, Executive Director of Action Incorporated, gave a history of Action in Gloucester.

Lunch Rating - Meals will be rated by stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today, we had fish and chips. The diners at my table gave the food 3 stars. When asked what would improve the meal, diners said today’s the fish was too spicy and dry.
