Visiting Rotarians

      Elizabeth Macomber and Linda Kelly from the Beverly Club, Chris Costello from the Manchester/Essex Club, and Allan Battistelli from the Rockport Club.

 

Guests of Rotarians

     Roger Rilot and Julia Kelly were guests of Howard Frisch, Dave McCardle and Jim Perry's guest was Jim Caukett, the Gloucester Harbor Master, and our guest speaker today.

 

Interact Club

       No Interact members were present today.

     No makeups were reported today.

     

Happy Thoughts

     Howard Frish was happy and thankful to Jon Morse and Sal Fronterio for helping out the Chamber with a business seminar.

      Sue Todd was happy the city has helped the Pathways program get started today after all their school buses were vandalized.

       Jon Morse was very happy the Patriots won their division championship.  Jon also told a story about their tickets being rejected at the gate for being expired.  Jon's son impressed his dad with his savy negotions with the ticket office to honor the tickets. 

      Barry Pett was happy Rick Doucette set a record for selling "Shop till you drop" tickets at Shaws on Saturday.

       Cheryl Collins was happy to have survived her daughter turning 10 years old.

    

Anniversaries & Birthdays

     No birthdays or anniverdaries were reported today.

    

Fines

      Acting President Joe Ciolino fined members who did not plan on attending the Chamber Anniversary Dinner.

      Members not  wearing their Rotary pins were also fined today.

    

Vacations

      Mike Costello vacationed in Key West.

     The next Rotary Moment will be given by Marc Sandler followed by the week after by John Scuccimarra and Julie Sidon.

 

Club News

      Chris Costello invited us to join the Manchester/Essex Club and the Beverly Club for a Rotary Comedy Night at the North Shore Music Theater. Please check with Chris for more information.

      Elizabeth Macomber announced that on March 25, the Red Cross will hold an event called "Celebrating Heroes".  Elizabeth also reminded us that the Red Cross has an office at the Addison Gilbert Hospital.

       Allan (Nick the Greek)  Battistelli from the Rockport Rotary is holding 50/50 raffle for the super bowl. Please check with Allan to enter this illegal gambling enterprise.

       Shore Cliff and Rotary are joining forces to staff the kitchen at Open Door Pantry from 4:00 to 6:30 pm on January 28, February 25, and March 24.  The address is at 38 Emerson Avenue.  Please sign up with Shirley Conway and pick a date.

        Mike Costello announced that on February 25, a "team bowling" event to benefit the Seafood Festival will take place at the Cape Ann Bowling Center.

        Cheryl Collins will collect glasses to take to the Dominican Republic.  Please check for your old glasses and give them to Cheryl to distribute to a person in need.


Winners and Losers... Sal Fronterio won the beverage of choice. Tony Corrao won the money, and Rudy Macchi won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.

 

Speakers....  Dave McArdle introduced our guest speaker today, Jim Caukett, the Gloucester Harbor Master.  Jim updated the group with what is happening in the harbor and river in the past year.

 

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on potatoes and baked chicken.  The dinners at my table gave the food 3 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal the dinners suggested serving a larger portion of chicken.

The Rotary International Theme for 2003-2004
