Interact Club
Interact members present today are: Tommy Mountain, Beth Phillips, and the speaker for today, Brenda Philips. Brenda spoke about her high school activities and future college plans.

Happy Thoughts
Jon Morse was happy to report that as of Saturday night, he and Carol have two new grandchildren. Congrats to all!
Ruth Pino was happy to have all her family at her house for the holidays this year. Ruth was also happy to have sold the most houses on Cape Ann last year, and being offered the job of office manager.
George Roark was also happy for Ruth on her promotion. George does not have to compete against Ruth at the office now.
Cheryl Collins was happy to be back to work after all the illness going on in the Aparo household.
Joe Ciolino was happy to have all the politicking done, attending his first City Council meeting of his second term, and getting down to the business of managing the city.
Steve Kaity was happy that David Stotzer is engaged to his sister-in-law.
Anniversaries & Birthdays
Don Sudbay Jr., celebrated his birthday today. No anniversaries were reported today.
Fines
President Greg fined Rotarians who have not paid up for attending the Holiday Party.
Late fines were paid by David Slade, Mary Black, and Steve Dexter.
Vacations
Alex Delis spent the New Year in New Orleans, Howard Frisch went to San Francisco, Steve Kaity went to North Conway, and Cheryl Collins was unhappy to have to cancel her vacation.

The next Rotary Moment will be given by Marc Sandler followed by the week after by John Scuccimarra and Julie Sidon.
Club News
President Greg informed the club that the "Shop 'til you Drop" promotion at Shaws Supermarket on Eastern Ave is on again for this year. Once again, Steve Kaity is running this successful promotion. Please expect to receive a packet of 40 tickets to either sell or buy, your choice. The promotion is to fund the club's centennial project at the Stage Fort Park Playground, with projected costs in the vicinity of $40,000. Rotary International Centennial is in the year 2005.
George Roark reported that the Rotary Freshman-Sophomore Track Meet held on December 27th went off well. George thanked the volunteers who helped out at the event.
The Board of Directors will meet at the C. B. Fisk Company on January 15 at 7:30 am.
Winners and Losers... Leo Bergeron won the beverage of choice but never received it. Joe Parisi won the money, and Mike Costello won the flowers and presented them to the new grandmother, Carol Morse. No winners today in the card raffle.
Speakers.... David McArdle introduced our guest speaker, David Joiner. David, the new editor of the Gloucester Daily Times, discussed the recent changes in the paper format and fielded a number of questions by members.
Lunch Rating... Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on salad and baked fish. The dinners at my table gave the food 5 stars. When asked what would improve the meal the dinners had no suggestions.
