     Interact members are on summer vacation.

 

Makeups

      Sheree DeLorenzo and Bruce Horne made up at the District Meeting. 

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     John Dugger celebrated his birthday today.  Dave Stotzer was remembering the 5th anniversary of his first date with his wife.  Brad Pierce is celebrating his 31st anniversary of joining Rotary.  Brad,  was gasoline was 25 cents a gallon then? Rick Doucette is celebrating his 6th year anniversary as the Y's Director.   Rick is also celebrating his 25th anniversary of working for the Y organization.  Jim Marr is celebrating 43 "wonderful" years of marriage to Pam.  

 

Vacations

    Mike Sarraf spent 4 days in New York City.  Dave Stotzer went to Maine. 

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

    Roger Armstrong was happy the plant sale, held at his home recently, went so well.   Proceeds from the sale go to the Sawyer Free Library.  John Dugger was happy the  temporary space for the Temple at 33 Commercial Street is final ready for occpancy.  President Bruce was happy the  club won a Significant Achievement Community Service Award from District at a recent District Meeting.  The award is for our efforts for the victims of the Loranne Apartments, and also the Lowell fire victims.  Greg Bover was a proud father with his son graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design with a 3.6 average. Jim Marr reported that he was happy that Charlie Foster and Brian McCook are both recuperating very nicely.  Joe Parisi was happy to report that the last bench (at the Stage Fort Park project) was put in place. Special thanks to the efforts of his wife Di for lifting the bench into place.  ( Joe did the supervisory work.) Joe was also happy the last of the loam has been put in place and the park is ready to hydro seed.  Ruth Pino,pseudo acting President of the Chamber of Commerce, invited members to the Gloucester House restaurant for the Small Business Person of the Year awards luncheon.  Sinikka Nogelo was happy to have been behind the camera during Brad Pierces' interview on Cape Ann TV.(See photo above)  Roger Corbin was happy his granddaughter graduated from high school and earned a Rotary Scholarship.  Julie LaFontaine was happy that a group of volunteer state employees took the time to paint the Food Pantry.  Todd Tanger, Joe Parisi, Jim Marr, David Marsh, and Joe Paris shared their "dead and/or alive"  bird sightings. 

 

                                                                                               Fines

Sheree DeLorenzo was fined for coming to  Rotary for the lunch meeting (which was cancelled due to the Paul Harris dinner that night).  Brad Pierce, Jim Marr, President Bruce, and Julie La Fontaine were fined for photos in the newspaper.  Dave Stotzer was fined for wearing a hat during our meeting.  President Bruce fined Rotarians who did not attend Brad's party at the Atlantis.

     Howard Frisch is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary MomentJulie Geary is first backup,  Steve Kaity is the second backup, and the third backup is David Kenny. Please have your ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...   Don Sudbay Jr. and Sal Frontiero  gave both gave an ABC of Rotary Moment.  Sergey Zemlyanski won the money and Roger Armstrong won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.

 


Speakers.... Kristen Bowes, Director of the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, talked about the present and future plans of the the Rockport Chamber Music Festival organization.
