Happy Thoughts
Josh Arnold was happy his daughter won several scholarships, including our own Rotary Scholarship. Steve Kaity was happy his son graduated from high school. Barry Pett was happy his niece Isabel graduated from high school. Bill Flygare was happy that our own Interact Co-President Marcus Busby withdrew his name from all the scholarships he had applied for in order to give his classmates an opportunity to win. Marcus won a full scholarship for 4 years to Stanford University. Good luck Marcus. Christopher Farmer decided not to go to the final City Council budget review, opting instead for going to a Fleetwood Mac Concert. As it turns out, the school budget was unexpectedly enriched by $200,000 by a unanimous vote of the City Council that night. (Maybe we have a pattern here, Christopher?) Mike Costello had some sort of record that he was proud of, that in 30 years as a member of Rotary Mike never worked a pancake breakfast. Mike amended his statement, saying that the Waterfront Festival (which Mike invented, along with the wheel...) was what made the pancake breakfast such a success. President Sinikka thanked Steve Dexter for having the last director's meeting at his house. Sinikka was also happy that the amount of funds the club had to distribute has not been reduced even with the declining economy. Howard Frish was happy that Ann Lewis is always ready to help at the spaghetti supper and the pancake breakfast.
Fines
Brad Pierce was fined for having a Cape Ann Motor Inn cup up on the podium. David Slade and Brad Pierce were fined for conducting business. Kim Spaner was fined for a photo of Rick Doucette. All Rotarians who were medaled today were fined.
Club News
President Sinikka will have her last meeting on June 30. Please try to come to this special meeting to thank Sinikka for her great year as our president. Reminder: it takes five years going through all the different chairs, and another year serving as president. That means a six year commitment to Rotary.
Save the Date
June 30, President Sinikka last day. Special meeting.
