     Mike Linquata had Gloucester businessman Alex Destino as his guest today. Greg Bover had his sister Sherril Bover and his brother-in-law as his guests today.  Sherril was also our guest speaker today.

 

Interact Club

     Interact members are on summer vacation.

 

Makeups

     Roger Corbin made up in Bedford, Shirley Conway made up twice on line, and Mike Costello made up at the Manchester/Essex club.

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     Bob Ryan and Julie Geary both celebrated their birthdays today.  Dan Ottenhimer is celebrating 15 "wonderful" years of marriage. 

 

Vacations

      Pat Thorpe had a short business trip to Newport.  Greg Bover went to Dun Fudgin' to launch his boat on his day off.  Barry Pett had a day trip to Fenway Park to pick up some Red Sox collectibles.

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

    Christopher Farmer was happy his wife dragged him to yet another old time band concert.  George Roark was happy his wife became a US citizen on June 6th.  Rick Doucette gave a thank you for being nominated and voted in as our newest director.  Rick was also happy for the Y to be getting a grant to establish a Downtown Clean Team. Teens will be hired to patrol for litter during the summer.  Dan Ottenhimer was happy his child was voted the Unsung Hero of the Year award from his 8th grade classmates.  Greg Bover was happy to have signed a contract for a new organ to be installed at Harvard University's Memorial Church in 2012. Ruth Pino was happy tickets are selling nicely for the Rotary's Comedy Show.  Bob Ryan had a long, golf-related happy thought.  Bird sightings were acknowledged by John Duggan, Joe Parisi, Greg Bover, and Matt Langis. 

 

 Fines

  Jim Marr was fined for impersonating Don Ho; Jim came to today's meeting wearing a Hawaiian shirt and shorts. Mike Costello was fined for taking the Lord's name in vain.   Steve Kaity was fined for a photo in the paper.  John Rando was also fined for wearing shorts today.     

 

    Club News

 The date of the dedication of the Stage Fort Playground  is now July 26, 2008, at 10 am.

 

Rick Doucette has been nominated by the past three presidents, Joe Ciolino, Jim Marr, and Don Sudbay Jr.,  to become the newest member of the board of directors. He will take his place on the board as Sinikka Nogelo moves up to take the president's chair.  Congratulation Rick!  Rick will chair International Service, and become President in 2013/2014.

 

 ABC of Rotary Moment

    

     Julie Geary is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary MomentSteve Kaity is first backup,   David Kenny is the second backup, and the third backup is Julie LaFontaine. Please have your ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...   Dave Marsh   gave an ABC of Rotary Moment.  Rudy Macchi  won the money, and President Bruce donated the  flowers to our guest speaker.    No winners today in the card raffle.


Speakers....  Greg Bover introduced his sister, Sherril Bover, who is a caregiver, coach, and educator.  Sherril had a dialogue with the group today about Alzheimer's Disease.
