Happy Thoughts

Cayte Ward was happy to announce the date of Addison Gilbert Hospital's annual  fundraising event "Dining on the Rocks."  The event is planned for Sunday, April 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Elks at Bass Rocks.  If you like fine dinning, this is the event to attend! I give the food 10 stars!

Steve Kaity was happy to report that on the same day of Dining on the Rocks, you can get an early workout by attending the Pride Stride.  The date is April 27, and the starting and ending point (as always) will be at the Good Harbor Beach parking lot.

Steve was also happy that his daughter's Girl Scout Troop personally delivered a shipment of Girl Scott Cookies to a Berkley class Navy destroyer docked in Boston. The troop also visited the USS Constitution while in Boston.  Steve thanked Barry Pett for making all the arrangements.

Rick Doucette was happy the Red Cross Auction held recently on cable tv raised an estimated $6,800 dollars.

Carole Sharoff was happy that the 1/2 court basketball toss fundraiser held recently to benefit the Science Park at the West Parish School was a success, raising $3,500 dollars. Barry Pett was also helped out with this event. ( Barry, you are just everywhere!)  Carole was also happy that NOAA gave a $5000 dollar grant for the Science Park.  Carole was happy that the fund raising goal is well on it's way to being met.

Herb Goodick was happy to be finished with all his physical therapy, and happy to be on the mend.

Catherine Henry celebrated her birthday today.  No anniversaries were reported today.

Barry Pett was fined for storing his badge in the wrong place.

Leo Bergeron was fined for not supplying Rotarians with Supermarket Sweep tickets.  (Leo would just inform the Rotarians asking to see John Scuccimarra for more tickets.)

President David fined all the Rotarians who did not sell all their tickets as of today.

Scott Chernov was fined for not knowing that our newest member was an optometrist, not an obstetrician.

Tony Carrao was fined for having his cell phone go off twice during our meeting.  John Dugger was fined for the same offense.

President David fined himself for not remembering Charlie Foster's birthday.

Steve Kaity was fined for discovering the smoking section of the destroyer he was visiting with his daughter's Girl Scott Troop.  Steve had to cut up three cigarettes.

Rudy Macchi was thanked for taking the time to go to a Rotary Leadership course held at Merrimack Collage, and representing our club.  Thank you for taking the time to attend, Rudy.

President David inducted two new members today, Charlene Due Bois and Catherine Henry.  Please take a moment and introduce yourself to our new members.   Credit is due to our new member recruitment committee of Mike Costello and Steve Dexter.  The membership  total is now at 51.  Please keep up the good work!

Winners and Losers... No winners on the beverage of choice.  Dave Stotzer won the money, and Rick Doucette won the flowers.  No winner today in the card raffle.

Speakers....  Pat Thorpe introduced our guest speaker for today, Bruce D. Bateman.  Bruce, a veteran diver with experience all over the world, showed  a slide presentation of his many dives off Cape Ann.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on a salad followed by baked lasagna.  The diners at my table gave the food 5 stars. W hen asked what would improve the meal, a larger portion was suggested.
