     Barbara and Bob Ellis were visiting today from Rockport.

     Carole Sharoff had a guest today.  Greg Bover had our speaker today, John Ronan, as his guest. 

 

Interact Club

      Interact members present today were Co-Interact Presidents Marcus Busdby and Kyle McTiernam.

 

Makeups

      Dave Stotzer made up 3 times at Interact.

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     Sal Frontiero and David Slade both celebrated their birthdays today.  No anniversaries were reported today. 

Vacations

      Ruth Pino vacationed 2 weeks in the Bahamas.  Barbara and Bob Ellis spent 2 weeks in Hawaii.  Carole Sharoff spent 4 days in Stowe, Vermont.  President Sinikka spent her vacation taking care of husband Joe after his knee surgery.  Don Sudbay Jr. spent 3  days in Charleston, North Carolina.

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

     Brad Pierce was happy  Marc Grenier signed up for all shifts for 2 days at the Rotary Recycling Days.  Mike Costello was happy to have received a get well card signed by all the members.  Bob Ellis is happy  there is a Cape Ann Symphony Concert this weekend.  Ruth Pino was happy to have only 2 rain days during her 2 week vacation.  Ruth Pino was happy the Red Cross is honoring Julie LaFontaine as an Unsung Hero  at their celebratory breakfast.   Rudy Macchi was also happy that the four men involved at the Easter Avenue explosion were also honored at the breakfast.  David Slade was happy to be welcoming his 2nd granddaughter in the family  Christopher Farmer was just happy to be here today.  Christopher was also happy  this year's GHS senior class will be sending various members to Stanford, Harvard, and MIT.  Christopher was happy the Stand for Children Organization is handing over 7500 letters to Governor Patrick to ask for help with our school system. 

 

 Fines

     Photo fines were paid by Kevin McAveeney, Rick Doucette, Sal Frontiero, and President Sinikka.  Don Sudbay paid a photo fine for his mother winning a basket of cheese in a raffle in Florida.  Rudy was fined for being Rudy once again today.  President Sinikka  fined Mike Costello and Roger Armstrong for not having a Rotary Moment ready.     

 

    Club News

 .     President Sinikka swore in our newest member, Kevin Bacon.  Please take a minute to introduce yourself to Kevin and welcome him. 

       President Sinikka presented Charlie Foster with a Special Achievement Award for his quick action in saving the life of Wayne Sargent during the Eastern Avenue explosion. 

 

  Extra Extra Extra!   

     President Sinikka has been informed by the Elks that our use of their function hall for the next 3 weeks has been suspended.  The Elks are doing some extensive renovations to the interior space of the building prohibiting our use of the hall.

     The Gloucester Rotary Club will be meeting at Cruise Port for the next 3 meetings, starting tomorrow, March 31st.    Spread the word of the changeover; if you are in charge of speakers, please inform them of the change. If you know a member that does not have email, please call them. Interact advisors, please inform the Interact members.  Audrey's needs to be informed of the change, and proper signage placed at the Elks telling members and visiting Rotarians of the change  to Cruise Port.

 ABC of Rotary Moment

     Kevin Bacon is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary Moment, Sergey Zemlyanski is first backup, Josh Arnold is the second backup, and the third backup is Mike Costello. Please have your   ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...   Pat Thorpe  gave an ABC of Rotary Moment.  Sal Frontiero won the money, and David Slade won the flowers. Josh Arnold won a gift certificate for a workout with a personal trainer for one hour at the Manchester Athletic Club.   No winners today in the card raffle.


Speakers....  Greg Bover introduced our speaker today, John Ronan, Poet Laureate of the City of Gloucester.
