The next Rotary Moment will be given by Sue Todd followed by Cayte Ward and Dennis Acker.

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

Brad Pierce celebrated his birthday today.  No anniversaries were reported today.

Vacations

Sinikka Nogello vacationed in Paris for a week.

Don Sudbay Jr., visited San Diego for a business trip and wound up in Palm Springs for five days.

Happy Thoughts

Charlene Glynn was happy to be participating in the Cape Ann Mother Makeover promotion  for Mother's Day.  Charlene was also happy to have taken delivery of a new piece of equipment which would allow to check eyes without dilating them.

Greg Bover was a proud dad, announcing that his son has been accepted at all three colleges where he applied.

Barry Pett was happy to announce that a casino boat fundraiser for Rob Serafine netted $3,000 for the cause.

Kevin Wheeler, an Interact member, was happy he will be the ROTC Commanding Officer next year.  Kevin was also happy that the GHS ROTC Rifle Team  had a 3rd place finish for Marksmanship.  The competition consisted of 200 other teams.  Congrats to the team.

Dave Stotzer was also happy to be selling Interact tee shirts for $5.00.  See Dave to buy one and support the Interact Club

Jim Marr was happy how the Stage Fort Park Building Committee is working hard to get the project started.  The committee consists of Joe Paris, Jim Marr, Greg Bover, Steve Kaity, Tony Corrao, and Joe Ciolino.  Josh Arnold is the paperwork man, and Catherine Henry is in charge of publicity for the project.

Fines

President Greg gave out a "Shaw's Fine," and Rotary pin fine.

Don Sudbay Jr., was fined for driving a new Cadillac XLR sports car to the directors meeting at C. B Fisk. The car cost a mere 80 Gs (and worth every penny!).  This car would make a Corvette jealous.  The problem was that all the other cars in the parking lot looked like they were ready for the junk heap! Kind of  depressing.

David McKechnie was fined for saying a Paul Harris Pin is not the same as a Rotary Pin, and Howard Frish should be fined.  Howard Frisch is a Paul Harris Fellow, and a Paul Harris Pin is indeed a Rotary pin!

    Club News

May 1 st is when the Interact Club will be conducting a car wash fund raiser at the Gorton's parking lot on Roger's Street from 9 am to 1 pm. Please stop by and support the Interact Club.

Joe Parisi announced  that on May 8th the club will be holding our annual fixer upper at the band stand at Stage Fort Park.  Please check with Joe Parisi to sign up.

The club will continue our dine around program with a lunch at the Cat Fish Grill on May 18th.  Please come and tell us how you rate this restaurant.

The board decided to fund a request for $200 for the VNA, and to again fund the GHS Rotary Spring Track Meet

Winners and Losers... No won the beverage of choice.  Joe Ciolino won the money, and somebody won the flowers.  Herb Goodick won today in the card raffle. Herb has pledged half of his winnings to the Stage Fort Park Project.  Thank You Herb!

Speakers.... David Gendall, Vice President of Business Services, and Kirk Dimmer,  both from Massachusetts Electric, were our guest speakers today.  The pair talked about the future plans to beef up power lines coming on to Cape Ann, and preventing the blackouts that occur on a regular basis.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on seafood casserole and salad.  The dinners at my table gave the food  5 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal the diners suggested it was perfect.
