Happy Thoughts

Jim Perry was happy the Rockport High School Drama Department is going to the state finals again this year.

Bob and Barb Ellis are happy they are going to Ireland again for an extended stay.

Jim Marr was delighted to have been accompanied by his fellow Rotarians on his last beat walk from the Stage Fort Park Bandstand to the Police Station.

Barry Pett was happy that Brad Pierce was happy to have his record of perfect attendance intact.  Brad tried to make up at the Rockport Club, but they called their meeting off due to the snow storm.  As far as the club is concerned, Brad's attendance is still perfect.

Barry was also happy to report that Hell froze over.  Hell is some small town in the US that went below freezing.  Small events make Barry a happy man.  (This is what happens when you live on an island in the middle of winter.  It does not take much to amuse us.)

Steve Kaity was happy to get the money needed to ship the Girl Scout Cookies to the troops overseas.  A good Samaritan from New Hampshire read the article in the GDT's and donated enough money to take the project over the top.  Barry Pett also help make the project a success.

John Dugger was unhappy that his daughter Sam had an accident at school, but was happy that seven of her teachers called up to see how she was doing.

Anniversaries & Birthdays

Bob and Barb Ellis celebrated 42 "wonderful" years of marriage today.  No birthdays were reported today.

Dave Stotzer was fined for the GDT's article and photo,  and also fined for his  missing name tag.

Rudy Macchi was fined for the insinuation that President David had a gut going.(growing?)

Mike Costello was fined for being late, not having the prayer,  a quote, and his Rotary Pin today.

John Scuccimarra was fined for not entering his bio information on our website.

President David inducted a new member today, Steve Curcuru, owner of Cameron's Restaurant.  We all  know Steve, but please take the opportunity to welcome him to Rotary.

President David is looking for some company for a District Dinner.  The World Peace Dinner will be held on March 18.  Looks like this event will have a stag representations from the club.  Check with David if you can attend.

The Supermarket Sweep to be held at Shaw's on Eastern Avenue is scheduled for April 27. Steve Kaity is  looking for volunteers to staff tables at both Shaw's to sell tickets.  Please check with Steve to line up a time for yourself.

Winners and Losers... No one won the beverage of choice.  Jim Marr won the money and Don Sudbay Jr. won the flowers, which he presented to our guest speaker Ellen Sibley. No winner in the card raffle

Speakers....   Steve Kaity introduced our guest speaker today, Ellen Sibley.  Ellen has been in charge of the Great Starts Reading Program. The School Department and our club have been sponsors of this program for many years.  Ellen gave an update of the program and its history.

The Interact Club presented Ellen with a $600 check, and Steve Kaity presented Ellen with a $1000 check to help keep the program growing.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by stars, with 5 stars being the best.  Today we dined on a nice salad, broiled fillet of fish with rice and vegetables.  The diners at my table gave the food 5 stars.  When asked for any comments the dinners like the " healthy aspect" of the lunch.
