Visiting Rotarians

 

Oscar Padgent was visiting from the Topsfield/Boxford/Middleton Club.  Dave Olsen was visiting from the Beverly Club.

Today was bring you significant other, partner, or spouse day at Rotary.  Many Rotarians had  guest join us for lunch today.

 

 

Interact Club

 

The Interact Club members present were not present today.

 

Makeups

 

Bill Flygare made up  at both the Rockport and Manchester/Essex clubs.

Rotarians can now make up online. Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org and allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup. Make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your online makeup, and give your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted.

 

Birthdays and Anniversaries

 

Tony Corrao celebrated his birthday today.  Julie LaFontaine is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Open Bowl Fundraiser for the local food pantry.

 

Vacations

John Dugger took some time visiting downtown Boston.  Don Sudbay Jr. vacationed in the Caribbean at St.  Martin,  Tony Corrao spent 10 day in Arizona.

 

Happy Thoughts

 

Don Sudbay was happy  he decided to look at his passport a few days before his trip only to notice that the passport had expired.  Adjusting his trip to accommodate the receiving of his new passport made for a great trip.  Sinikka was happy  her retirement party was so well attended, and that it raised some dollars for Cape Ann TV.  Sinikka was also happy her eye surgery was a success.  Jon Morse was happy he went to a Red Sox game, but had to leave for home because the inclement temperature.  Ruth Pino was happy she has been named  Small Business Person of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.  Ruth will be honored on June 7th at a time and place to be announced.  Julie LaFontaine was happy  she was able to go to Chicago to accept an award.  Julie was also happy that Sesame Street Productions is interested in doing a segment on the Food Pantry Mobil Mart.  Bruce was ready to attend the Kentucky Derby on a business trip, but the trip did not work out.  David Slade was happy to be arrested by the MS police.  John Dugger was happy that Joe Ciolino explained the science of why the dogs are not allowed on the  beaches  one month before Memorial Day.  Mike Linquata was happy the stolen flag at the WW2 memorial is being replace by a donor.  Mike had fun talking to a group of 11 year old children at the memorial.  Lastly, Mike was happy that a  concert benefiting the WW2 Memorial will performed by a local chorus named the Sound of Music.  Brad Pierce had a happy thought, and  Julie Geary had a happy thought about her grandson and crafting.

 

Fines

 

President Ruth did not give out fines today in honor of all the special guests.

 

 

Club News

 

Here's lunch for the next several weeks:


May 18     Chicken and broccoli, salad, peach cobbler with whipped cream

May 25     Sausage with peppers and onions  OR  hot dogs with peppers and onions, corn on the cob, cole slaw.  Brownies with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Dave Stotzer is up for next Tuesday's ABC of Rotary Moment, Don Sudbay Jr.  is first backup, Becky Sumner is the second backup, and the third backup is Todd Tanger.   Please have your ABC of Rotary Moment ready.

Winners and Losers: Kim Spanner  gave the Rotary Moment today.  Matt Langis won the $10.00, Jo Corrao  won the flowers, and no winners in the card raffle today.

Speaker today: Julie LaFontaine  introduced our speaker, Loretta Peres from the Chill Zone.
