No visiting Rotarians were reported today.

Guests of Rotarians

Carole Sharoff  had Tracy O'Neil as her guest today.

Interact Club

Interact members were not present today.  Remember, next week the Interact Club will be running our meeting. You all know what that means...bring dollars for fines. The day tends to be on the expensive side.

Makeups

Cheryl Collins made up in Rockport.

Happy Thoughts

Cayte Ward was happy to have the future of Addison Gilbert Hospital looking good.

Sinikka Nogelo was happy with the work the Interact Club did at the Empty Bowl fundraiser held last Thursday.

Brad Pierce was happy to have his daughter's boyfriend call him to ask for permission to marry her.  Brad's daughter called, excited that she said yes to the proposal, and had a beautiful diamond ring on her finger.

Jim Perry was happy to have his daughter graduate from college and going to work for Price Waterhouse.

Barry Pett was happy to have had over 300 people attending Jim Marr's Retirement Party.

Sal Fronterio was happy to have his father doing well after a triple bi-pass surgery.

Mike Costello was happy to have the Gloucester Co-Operative Bank hosting this evening's Chamber Business Exchange.

Scott Chernov was happy to have the bandstand looking so great.  He was also happy to have the paint finally come off his hands, but unhappy that the paint will not come out of his clothing.

Rudy's road trip included a breakdown.  He had the opportunity to use his On-Star system to call for help, and help did come.  Since the truck was purchased from Don Sudbay Jr., he paid the fine for that business-plugging happy thought.

Anniversaries & Birthdays

Alex Delis celebrated his birthday today. No anniversaries were reported.

Fines

Acting President Joe Ciolino fined Rotarians who did not show up for either the bandstand cleanup or the cemetery cleanup.

Carole Sharoff was fined for not being present when her guest arrived today.  Joe also fined Carole for being on her cell phone most of the time at the cemetery cleanup.

Rotarians who have not signed up for the Paul Harris dinner were also fined.

My bad!  I fined Steve Dexter for not returning  my Rotary notebook to me, and for not taking any notes during the meeting.  Pat Thorp, you owe Steve Dexter  2 dollars.  Pat, where is my notebook?  Sorry Steve - you were a good guy to pay the fine. Thank you to Becky Sumner for taking notes at the meeting.

Vacations

Gay Brown spent 2 weeks in Aruba.   Rudy Macchi drove to Florida and back.  Rudy had the honor of receiving a driving award in North Carolina.  Rudy was so happy, he decided to donate $125 to the state of North Carolina.  Ruth Pino went to New York City with her sisters for four days. Howard Frisch  went to Illinois to visit his children.  Scott Chernov went to Tucson, Arizona for four days.

A Rotary Moment

The next Rotary Moment will be given by Howard Frisch, followed by the week after by Sal Frontiero.

Club News

Thank you to the Rotarians who helped out with the cleanup of the First Parish Cemetery.

Please sign up for the Paul Harris Dinner to be held on June 4th.  The dinner will be in lieu of a meeting on Tuesday, June 3rd

The playground at the East Gloucester Elementary school is done.  Take time to check it out.  We made a 500 dollar donation to the project, and the equipment used at this play ground is similar to what we will be installing at Stage Fort Park.

Acting President Joe announced with the regret the resignation of Bob Kershaw.  Bob has been transferred from the Gloucester branch of Bank North.

The Interfaith Commission honored our Interact Club and our own Gaye Brown and David Stotzer for their work at the Open Door meals. The City of Gloucester honored the Interact Club  with a special citation from the Gloucester City Council

Winners and Losers... Becky Sumner won the beverage of choice, Charlie Foster won the money, and Steve Kaity presented  the flowers to guest speaker Nancy Schower.  No winners today in the card raffle.

Speakers....  Steve Kaity introduced our guest speaker today, Nancy Schwayer, Executive Director of Wellspring.  Nancy thanked us for the Super Market Sweep and updated us on the LePages Housing project.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on salad and chicken Florentine.  The dinners at my table gave the food 5 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal, the dinners suggested it was fine.
