Happy Thoughts

Herb Goodick was happy to be driving his truck again.

George Roark was happy that the  Rotary sponsored Sophomore Track Meet was a success again this year.  George wanted to thank Barry Pett for helping out.

Brad Pierce was happy that David Mitchell was progressing well at Salem Hospital.

Dennis Acker was happy to have Maya's adoption process finally completed this week.

Anniversaries & Birthdays

The "blonde" Mary Black, and Tony Carro celebrated their birthdays today.  Charlene and Dennis Acker are celebrating 12 "wonderful" years of marriage.  The Acker's are also celebrating the one year anniversary of Maya being placed into their loving arms for the first time.  Congrats to all!

Fines

David McKechnie fined the patriotic Joe Ciolino for giving the winning coach of last year's Little League World Series a US flag during a recent parade.  David questioned the patriotic Joe Ciolino why he did not get a flag. (The answer was that, traditionally, looser teams do not receive any rewards.

Joe Parisi and Steve Kaity both paid cell phone fines today.

A table in the rear of the room was fined for not filling up the front tables first, as is our group's custom..

Vacations

Bob Ellis spent 5 weeks in Ireland.  Tony Corrao spent 21 days in Mesa, Arizona.

A Rotary Moment

The next Rotary Moment will be given, for a world-record 6th try, by Alex Delis, followed the week after by John Dugger. (John, you're on deck for Tuesday!)

Club News

ATTENTION - busy weekend ahead!  Saturday (MAY 10) is the day of the Super Market Sweep at Shaw's on Eastern Ave.  The time to assemble is 6:15 am and the run will 6:30 am.  John, I hope you have some coffee ready for us, it will certainly be appreciated!

After that, from 7 am  to  12pm be there for the bandstand cleanup (weather permitting). Since we're up and out at Shaws, we'lll just convoy to Stage Fort Park!

The board has decided to have all new members sign up for a two month tour of duty at the front table before our meetings at Cameron's. New members can sell tickets, register guests, and man the table in general  The board feels that working the table will help get new members fully involved.

Winners and Losers... Herb Goodick won the beverage of choice.  Joe Parisi  won the money, and David McKechnie  won the flowers and presented them to our guest speaker, Katherine Bliss.  No winners today in the card raffle.

Speakers....  Steve Kaity introduced our guest speaker today, Kathrine Bliss, President of Addison Gilbert Hospital.  Katherine spoke about the reasons for closing  the 2nd floor of Steel 2 at Addison Gilbert Hospital.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on rib eye steak sandwich with a ice cream pie dessert. The dinners at my table gave the food 5 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal, the dinners noted it was just fine.
