2008 Holiday Party...Cape Ann Lanes

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (No meeting on Tuesday, December 16). Rotarians or Interact members attending $12.00, guests $20.00 each, children under 10 are free.  Please bring an UNRAPPED gift for Action's gift program, Project Uplift.  Parents:  Santa has penciled the event into his busy schedule, Bring a WRAPPED gift for each child who wants to visit with Santa.  RSVP to Mike Sarraf by December 9.  afsheen72@hotmail.com

Interact Club

      Interact members present today were Jackie Arnold and Linda (? last name)Jackie spoke about her family and future goals. 

 

Makeups

      No makeups were reported today. 

     Rotarians can now make up on line.  Check out www.rotaryeclubone.org , allow yourself 30 minutes to complete the makeup and make sure you print off a receipt of having completed your on line makeup.  Please hand  your receipt to Carole Sharoff in order for the attendance records to be adjusted. 

 

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

     Rudy Macchi celebrated his birthday today.  Matt Langis is celebrating his 9th anniversary with the Rockport National Bank.  John Dugger is celebrating 8 "wonderful" years of marriage.  John Dugger's dog is also celebrating his 3rd birthday. 

 

Vacations

      Bruce Horne did the Disney thing in Florida.  Christopher Farmer spent 2 days in Ithaca, New York.  Rudy Macchi is doing the Abraham Lincoln tour with a visit to Gettysburg for 4 days. 

                                                      

Happy Thoughts

     Mike Costello was a happy man, thinking about his retirement party at Cruiseport.  Mike Sarraf was happy a fund raising event for Pathways ended up raising $155,000.  David McKechnie was happy about the YMCA.  Christopher Farmer had a good day; a GHS student was accepted at Harvard with a full scholarship.  Greg Bover was happy to have been a tour guide at the Chamber's house tour held recently.  John Dugger was happy to have attended an auction on Friday evening. 

 

 Fines

    Mark Grenier was fined for a photo in the papers.  Mike Costello was fined for forgetting to thank his wife during his speech.  Mike was also fined for calling Vice President Ruth Pino a nag, in a nice way of course.  VP Ruth fined Chamber board members who did not volunteer for duty during the house tour.  Josh Arnold was fined for being related to our Interact speaker today. 

    

 

    Club News

   Two new members were inducted  today by Vice President Ruth Pino: Maggie Rosa and Ed Collard.   Please take a moment to introduce yourself and welcome Maggie and Ed to the club.

       Please remember that December 9th is Teddy Bear Tuesday.   Please bring a new teddy bear with a value of at least $10.00 to our meeting.  The bears will be donated to the Gloucester Police and stored in each cruiser, waiting patiently to calm children during a crisis.  The bears have a proven soothing effect on traumatized children.  If you cannot find the time to shop, a $10.00 donation will be accepted in lieu of bringing a bear to the meeting. 

 

 ABC of Rotary Moment

    

     Bob Ryan is up for next Tuesday's  ABC of Rotary Moment, Marc Sandler is first backup, Ed Collard is the second backup, and the third backup is Maggie Rosa. Please have your   ABC of Rotary Moment ready. 

    


Winners and Losers...   Mike Sarraf  gave an ABC of Rotary Moment. Roger Corbin  won the money, and Mike Sarraf won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.

 


Speakers.... Christopher Farmer introduced our speaker today, Arley Pett.  Arley, who  is the Veterans Agent for the City of Gloucester,  spoke about the issues, assistance, and counsel needed by today's veterans.
