Happy Thoughts

Mike Costello was a happy camper after another successful membership drive which took in 139 new members, bringing the total Chamber membership to over 1200.  Congrats to all involved.

Jon Morse was happy his step-mom is celebrating her 91st birthday and is doing well.

Don Chalmers, representing the Rockport Rotary Club,  was happy to be returning to us the "looser" golf trophy.  Don presented the trophy to Bruce Horne, and proclaimed the trophy was finally at home with the "looser club." Oh the shame!

Ruth Pino was happy to have had the opportunity to go the the new bowling alley in town and was grateful to the Sudbay's for making such a grand investment in Gloucester.

Jim Marr was happy that President Greg  and VP Joe Ciolino are back to the club.  Thank you Jim for filling in for us during our absence.

David McKechnie was happy for the Red Sox.

Brad Pierce was happy to be able to help a fellow audience member watching  the show "Memphis"  playing at the North Shore Music Theater. Duriing the performance, a ceiling fan fell on a patron. Brad was the only one in the vicinity who went over to help the victim. Brad, I hope you get some comp tickets from the theater.

Scott Chernov told another happy story from his happy place in life.

John Dugger told us about his happy accident involving a falling rock and a windshield wipers.

President  Greg Bover celebrated his birthday today.  Bill Mantz celebrated 10 "wonderful" years of marriage.

Fines

Don Sudbay was fined for a flyer by GM which spelled the car agency name wrong.

President Greg fined members who are not signed up to be a sustaining member.

Bill Mantz went to Iceland for a week.  Jon Morse went to California to visit his step-mom, David Babson went to Martha's Vinyard, Dave McKechnie went to Pittsburgh, Herb Goodick went to the see the Mohegan Trail, and Bruce Horne went on a check-out-a-college trip to Westbrook, Maine.

Club News

Jim Marr wants to remind his fellow Rotarians that sign up sheets to deliver lobster rolls on October 23 and 24 will be on the meeting tables next Tuesday .  Four people are needed to take a section of the city to make the deliveries.  The areas are East Gloucester, West Gloucester, North Gloucester and the center of the city.  Please sign up if you can arrange your schedule for noontime deliveries.

Winners and Losers...Julie Sidon won the beverage of choice.  Jon Morse won the money, and Jon Morse won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.

Speakers.... Mary Black introduced our guest speaker today, Chief Mike McCloud of the Gloucester Police Department.  Chief McCloud spoke about the current state of the police department.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on Caesar chicken rollups with french fries.  The dinners at my table gave the food 3 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal the dinners had no suggestions.
