    Donna Blanchard and Lisa Saanko were guests today.  President Joe had Gloucester School Superintendent Christopher Farmer as his guest today.  Jim Marr had State Senator Bruce Tarr, our guest speaker today, and Police Chief Mike McCloud as his guests today.

     Interact members are regrouping for the new school year.

 Birthdays & Anniversaries

    Leo Bergeron celebrated his birthday today.  Mike Costello celebrated his 30th anniversary doing Chamber of Commerce work.  Greg Bover celebrated 26 years working for the C.B. Fisk Company.

   

Vacations

     Rick Doucette vacationed in North Conway, New Hampshire.

 

Happy Thoughts

 

      Herb Goodick was happy to have attended the 60th Omaha Beach reunion held recently in Peoria, Illinois.  Cheryl Collins was happy to have survived the Rockport Town Meeting. Greg Bover was happy that this year's Soap Box Derby went well.  Greg thanked all the derby's sponsors.    Joe Parisi was happy with the turnout at the Stage Fort Park Catholic Church's Picnic, and that all went well.  Mike Costello is  happy that the Red Sox keep on winning. Charlene Glynn revealed she is a "parrot head," attending a Jimmy Buffet Concert in Boston.  Scott Chernov was happy to be thinking about how a man (Dave Stotzer) on his honeymoon gets poison ivy in a private area of his body? Inquiring minds want to know. Jon Morse was happy the New England Patriots won their game.

Fines

      President Joe administered a one dollar fine to all members who have been married for more than 2 weeks. (Newlywed Dave "Posen Ivy" Stotzer was the only Rotarian who did not pay the fine.) :-)

   Brad Pierce has done a great job organizing this year's Past President's Banquet.  The date is Thursday, September 30th, at the Hearthside in Essex.  Cocktails and a group photo are at 5:30, and dinner at 6:00 PM.  Cost is $28.00 per person .  Past Presidents are being asked to speak briefly about 1) the most memorable moment of their year, and 2) the funniest incident that occurred during their presidency.

    Northeast Health Foundation's golf tournament to benefit Addison Gilbert and Beverly Hospital needs help to fill out the field of players.  On Monday, September 20th, four teams are needed.  On Tuesday, September 2nd, 13 teams are needed to completely fill out the field.  The game will be played at the Bass Rocks Golf Club  Please call Amy Sulivan at 978-236-1600 to sign up.

     October 7 is the date for the Gloucester / Rockport Rotary Golf Match.  This highly significant grudge match (take no prisoners) is all in fun.  Check with our chief Grudge Master David McKechnie and his two partners in crime, Bruce Horne an Bob Ryan, for details.

Winners and Losers... Pat Thorpe won the beverage of choice. Mike Costello won the money, and David Babson won the flowers.  No winners today in the card raffle.

 

Speakers....  Jim Marr had Police Chief Mike Mc Leod accepting a check for $500 to support the Police Memorial now being built.  Jim Marr had State Senator Bruce Tarr speak about what is going on in Boston on Beacon Hill.

Lunch Rating...   Meals will be rated by 5 stars, with 5 stars being the best. Today we dined on baked haddock and vegetables.  The dinners at my table gave the food 5 stars.  When asked what would improve the meal the diners had no suggestions.
