This page will include a list of speakers that you can invite
to speak to your Rotary Club about water resources and water projects.
- Joyce Joyce from Sterling
Heights Rotary has been visiting clubs and other organizations to inform
people about BioSand water filters to provide
clean water to poor people in the Bonao area of the Dominican Republic.
Having gathered funds for a pilot project in 2005-06, a Matching Grant
project in 2006-07, Joyce has now collected funds for a $22,200 Matching
Grant project approved by RI to provide BioSand
water filters to more poor villages in the Dominican Republic. Clubs that
want to become involved, or want to have a presentation, or seek help on
preparing their own Matching Grant, may contact Joyce Joyce at
firstname.lastname@example.org or 586-751-2861.
- John and Eileen Heasley from
Troy Rotary are visiting clubs to encourage all water-related projects.
They talk about how they began a project in Nepal and how others can also start
a project. John and Eileen also teach a BioSand
Filter Workshop held this year from February 20-23, 2008 in Troy. For
those clubs who wish to join a project, Troy Rotary is beginning a new
Matching Grant that empowers the Rotary clubs here and in Nepal to work
together to bring safe drinking water to villages in Nepal. They talk
about how clubs can join this project. For more information contact Eileen
Heasley, email@example.com or 248-689-5634.
