January 2017 Newsletter

Have you logged on to the new Cosmopolitan International website yet?

If not, log on today!  Visit www.cosmopolitan.org.  The new site is very user-friendly and offers a contemporary look and feel for our organization.

Feedback received from members has been overwhelmingly positive.  If you need help logging on or have any questions, please contact ED Tracy at headquarters@cosmopolitan.org.

Website Committee Chairman John LiCausi and ED Tracy continue to work with ClubRunner, the platform for our new website, on the details involved with websites for individual clubs.

As with any new program, there are issues to be worked out before clubs may sign up for their own site.  Stay tuned for information as soon as it is available.

Many of us have, at one time or another, made purchases from Amazon.com.  But did you know that Amazon offers a way that your purchase can benefit the Cosmopolitan Diabetes Foundation (CDF)?  Simply log onto smile.amazon.com and select Cosmopolitan Diabetes Foundation as the charity of your choice.

When you do, Amazon will make a donation to the CDF.  There is no cost to participate.  This is a very simple way for Cosmos to show their support for the CDF.

Log on and sign up today!

The 2017 Winter Board Meeting will be held March 3 and 4 at the Omaha Marriott, 10220 Regency Circle, Omaha, Nebraska 68114.

Any Cosmopolitan member is always welcome to attend any board meeting, so please contact ED Tracy if you wish to attend.

Bricks and Beacons!  The new website soon will feature two new sections that will be especially useful to Cosmos.

Planning is underway for a section where Cosmos may purchase both physical as well as virtual bricks in honor of or in memory of a loved one.  Physical bricks then will be displayed at Cosmo Park in Columbia, Missouri, and virtual bricks will be featured on the website.

There also will be a section on the website where Beacon members may make donations, obtain receipts, and track their giving history online.

Details on both features will be shared with the Board at the Winter Board meeting, and soon afterward we anticipate that both features will be available on the website.

Award season is soon upon us!

The Awards Committee is hard at work to improve the layout of the awards manual as well as the entry forms used for the various awards.  Improvements underway include making due dates consistent for all awards and improving the entry form design and submission process.

We anticipate no change to award criteria at the club or federation levels.  The updated awards materials will be posted on the website as soon as they are approved, and an email will be sent to club presidents alerting them that the new materials are available.

Mark your calendar!

The 2017 International Convention will be held in Regina, Saskatchewan, July 27 – 29.

A detailed schedule and registration are coming soon!

And finally,

“It is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.”

  --Ralph Waldo Emerson
